Soð
The Purple God (a.k.a. The Truthful, The Liar, The Right, The Dancer, the Drunk, The Silent Sister, The Mask Maker, The Dreamer, Knightmare Daughter, Wine Taster, The Insane, No Face, Miss Try)
"Soð, the Purple God, whose song brought joy to the world, whose laughter brought mystery, whose masks hide truths untold . Please give us a clear mind so that your light may shine"The prayer of Soð, emblazoned on the front of The Law of the Porphorion Empire Vol. 5
Soð is a God of many faces. A mystery to all. No one, not even her most dedicated worshippers, know her true form. As such any depiction of her is usually of a woman surrounded by mask, wearing a mask, and with a midnight purple robe speckled with stars. Her followers reflect this, with many of her clerics taking the form of a maiden of masks, wearing a ceramic mask to hide their form. Many see this mystery as curse, and view her as the God of treachery, shadows, and insanity. it is therefore unsurprising that many thieves and assassins turn to her to pray for help. However, even though she holds poison in one hand, in the other is usually held a cup over flowing with wine. As, as the God of the moon and night, she is also the god of Revelry, drink, and music. Actors and publicans equally ask for her blessing.
Very few stories remain of Soð from The Travail. But she was certainly there in some style or the other. One of the few remaining Myths of her is that of her sleeping through a great catastrophe wrought by The Darkness, however during this sleep she dreamed of a way in which to trick The Darkness with the truth and bring about the balance between The Light and The Darkness which allowed the rest of History to progress. That being said, some claim that this trap ultimately destroyed Soð, sending her mad, and splitting her personality into a thousand parts, which spread into the world, destined to forever wonder the world, unknowing of what they truly are.
