Origins and Early Life (583 – 602 PR)

Gorvag was born in the Rusthorn Hills during a red-sky storm that split the hills like thunder.
According to tribal seers, Horamush himself had “snorted the child into being.”
His mother, Druza Red-Mane, was a feared raider and priestess of Vagdarr; his father, Gorveth the Mead-Blessed, ruled as Tusklord and diplomat to House Vipère.

At ten winters, Gorvag was already large enough to carry a war-boar’s saddle.
At twelve, he killed a Norlan knight with a stone axe and was given his first tusk-tattoo — the Mark of Blood.
At fifteen, he survived the Trial of Tusks by slaying three rival heirs bare-handed in the boiling pits of Rusthorn.

The tribe named him Gorvag the Boar-Spawn, believing him touched by Horamush’s rage.

Rise of the Red Boar (602 – 610 PR)

When his father died defending a caravan of Vipère merchants from Norlan patrols, Gorvag swore vengeance.
He rallied thirteen warbands beneath the Boar Banner, uniting the fragmented orc clans for the first time since Bargan Thick-Hide.

  • 603 PR — Burning of Stonefield Keep: Gorvag raided deep into Norlan territory, using Vipère alchemic fire to reduce the fortress to slag. Over two hundred humans perished in the flames.
  • 605 PR — Treaty of Leadenport: Struck secret pacts with Lord Merthin Rongeur, offering spoils and iron in exchange for ship routes and gunpowder.
  • 608 PR — The Boar Hearth Oath: Proclaimed that Horamush and Vagdarr were not rivals but brothers, declaring a new creed of “rage tempered by kinship.”

This philosophy — half war, half faith — made him a prophet as well as a warlord.

The Great Boar Host (610 – 620 PR)

By forty winters, Gorvag commanded nearly ten thousand orcs, half-orcs, goblins, and ogres.
He founded the Boar Banner Host, dividing his followers into clans under a single blood-council:

His raids devastated Norlan’s southern marches and even reached the outskirts of Goffik Kingdom.
To the Tudors he was a plague; to the orcs, a redeemer.

  • 613 PR — Battle of Red Vine Vale: Ambushed two Norlan legions; slew Lord Berric of Norlan in single combat.
  • 616 PR — Feast of Twelve Tusks: Forged blood pacts with the Craghorn and Irontooth clans, unifying the Rusthorn tribes.

Personality and Beliefs

Gorvag is a paradox — a beast of discipline.
He can slaughter prisoners one hour and share mead with survivors the next.
He calls his fury a “sacred fire” that must be fed, not indulged.

He reveres Horamush as the spark of strength and Vagdarr as the hand that guides it.
Every raid begins with him pouring his own blood onto the war pyre, saying:

“Boar-father, take rage from me and give it back when the world resists.”

He forbids cowardice but despises senseless cruelty.
Those who harm children or kin are castrated and branded Tusklost.

Combat and Appearance

In battle, Gorvag wears boar-plate armour of black iron inlaid with red runes, its helm crowned with two genuine tusks from his first kill.
He fights with Fleshroot and Miretooth, twin greataxes said to bleed when his rage awakens.
His strength is legendary — witnesses say he once cleaved a war-boar in two to free it from suffering.
His war-cry, “The Root Drinks Deep!”, can be heard for miles across the hills, echoed by thousands of tusks beating on shields.

Allies and Enemies

Allies

  • House Vipère: Supplies poisons and alchemic fire. Lucien IV calls him “the Beast Who Honours His Word.”
  • House Rongeur: Trade partners and smugglers of iron and spice; Merthin Rongeur uses Gorvag’s raids as cover for his own operations.

Enemies

  • Norlan Kingdom: Primary target of Corchon raids; their border dukes have a standing bounty for Gorvag’s head.
  • Goffik Kingdom: Hates him for burning their grain fields and kidnapping noble sons for ransom.
  • Tudor Empire: Officially at war yet secretly pays him to attack Norlan outposts instead of Tudor forts.

Legacy and Prophecy

Gorvag’s shamans speak of a vision:
a boar crowned in fire standing upon the bones of men while two moons bleed above.
They call him the Boar Reborn — Chosen of Both Gods.

Whether prophecy or madness, Gorvag believes it.
He seeks to fuse Horamush’s fury with Vagdarr’s unity — creating a single faith strong enough to raise a new Orcish Empire.

Should he succeed, the age of border raids will end, replaced by conquest.
Should he fall, his death will ignite every tusk-marked warrior from Rusthorn to Fenris.
