Daughter of Chains

  Deskyo was born in Sharakh-Den, a subterranean temple-city once ruled by Matron-Priestesses who offered sacrifices to dark powers—including Mog the Cannibal God. Her birth was not noble, but useful—bred from ritual to serve as an offering or instrument.   She was trained in:   Bladework, infiltration, and silent killing   The dances of pain, a cultural performance turned weapon in the cult   Fluent in Undercommon, Abyssal, and the Drow Tongue of Wounds (a coded language using scars)   By her 30th year, she was known as "The Dagger That Smiles" among the Moggite elite. They sent her to assassinate rivals. She obeyed. Until she didn’t.  

The Rebellion and the Burning

  During a ceremony in 611 PR, Deskyo was ordered to personally flay a captured surface elf child in honor of Mog.   She refused.   Her matron declared her corrupted. Her fellow acolytes turned on her. She killed five before she was taken down, and for her defiance, she was branded a traitor, disfigured with sacred cuts, and left for dead in the Shattered Shoals—dumped overboard in chains, far from the underdark, with her soul marked for the Abyss.   But fate had not abandoned her.  

The Rescue by Brandon Reaper

  Floating among shipwrecks, bleeding and half-conscious, Deskyo was found by the infamous pirate captain Brandon Reaper in 617 PR. She didn’t beg. She snarled.   He cut her free.   Deskyo spent her first days aboard the Devil’s Smile recovering and watching. She offered no thanks, only silence and sharp glances. But when Moggite raiders attacked a nearby village, she asked for a blade—and fought beside Reaper like a storm in flesh.   From blood, respect was born. From silence, trust. From battle, love.   By 620 PR, she and Reaper were married—beneath a burning sail, the pirate’s rite. They exchanged no vows. Only blades.  

Dagger of the Devil’s Smile

  Deskyo is not just a captain’s wife—she is his equal.   She leads half the crew, handles assassination contracts, and trains the fiercest recruits. She refuses to be called “First Mate”—she is simply "Saltblade", and those who disrespect her title do not live long.   She personally:   Executed a Moggite priestess by sewing her mouth shut with cursed thread   Led the boarding of a war galley with only six knives and no armor   Maintains a logbook of every freed slave, each name inked in blood and salt  

Beliefs and Boundaries

  Deskyo hates the Moggite cult with fanatical precision. She does not believe in mercy toward them. But she does believe in protecting the helpless, especially women and children. She refuses to allow any passenger or crew member to be branded, shackled, or silenced.   She has faith only in action. She does not worship gods—she hunts their liars.  

Combat Style & Magic

  Dual Wielder: Carries twin daggers named Bloodwake and Final Grace   Sea Dancer Style: A blend of acrobatics and underdark blade ritual; each kill is a movement of a greater choreography   Dark Gift: Cursed by the priestesses, she can cause phantom pain in those marked by divine magic (similar to hex)   Shadow Step: Once per rest, she can vanish into mist and reappear behind her target, striking with advantage  

Relationship with Brandon Reaper

  Their love is not soft—but it is unbreakable. They do not kiss in public. They do not argue before crew.   But every night, they sharpen blades together in silence, and every time one is wounded, the other carries the wound like their own.   Deskyo has sworn:   “If Brandon dies before I do… I will kill gods to get him back.”
