This is all due to Midgand technology continuously stealing Light astral energy for the Crown Contest, transferring it into the spirit vessel.
In order to keep his iron grip firm, Valkyris sows mistrust and pits the citizens against each other by having them sell each other out to the Bureau of Civil Observation. However, there are few who form the resistance group known as the Silver Swords.
