Maison de Fidélité

La Maison de Fidélité is a Maison of great loyalty and honesty. Originally residing outside the great city of Chambéry it has now, due to the extreme growth of the city, become a part of la Porte-d'or, arguably the wealthiest suburb in the Chambéry, no doubt primarily due to the success of the Maison.   The Maison's most significant and famous property is it loyalty to its customers. When Maison de Fidélité signs a contract, the Maison always completes it. Even if the Enquêteur(s) (See Recruitment and training) assigned initially, one way or another becomes incapable or is inadequate to complete the contract the Maison will assign one or more other Enquêteur(s) to the contract.   The Maison also puts a high value on honesty. They are committed to never lie to a customer, and the Enquêteurs always strive to tell the truth, as long as you do not ask for the secrets of the Maison or any of its current or completed contracts.   The Maison has some rules that should always be considered if you a considering purchasing its services:
  • No contracts to harm Mandataires (domestic or foreign), members of the Senate or the Royal Family
  • No contracts to harm any of its current customers or interfere with any current contract
  • No contracts to harm members of the guild, the integrity of the guild, or its reputation
  • No contracts where the customer withholds important information or provides intentionally misleading or wrong information, always be honest as a customer
The guild spends an incredible amount of work to research any potential problems with a contract that could go against its rules before accepting and still reserves the right to cancel and repay the customer if they discover any violations afterwards. If the guild finds out that you are maliciously trying to get it to accept a contract that violates any of its rules the guild permanently bans you... In the best case.

Speculations

Some people expect that the Maison brew addiction free potions for their use and possibly have people well-versed in arcana to create magical items for the Maison too.   It is also very probable that the Maison has many books on most things of the world and people proficient in history, nature etc.   Some wilder speculations say that they know of secret underground networks that can bring them around the city at incredible speeds.

Structure

The Enquêteurs are the backbone of the guild. These are the people that investigate and complete all contracts of the guild. They are either brought into the guild from an extremely young age when they show potential or borne into it through a few select families that have dedicated their whole life to living in and as a part of the Maison. The training of the Enquêteurs are largely unknown but it is clear that the guild mostly uses exceptionally well-trained Monks to complete contracts. Sometimes the Maison also employs people outside for specific tasks, but this happens rarely and always on a strictly need to know basis.   As a final test of the skill of a student, they are sent outside the Maison as an Étudiant before being allowed the full rank of Enquêteur. For many, this is their first time truly on their own. Étudiants are expected to find uses for their skill and to see how well their training applies in real situations. During this period the Étudiant is still required to follow the rules and doctrines of the Maison and has to report back to the Maison about all contracts undertaken. Though the contracts a Maison member of this rank take on is not covered by the guarantee of Maison de Fidélité, their services are still desirable to many due to the relatively low price compared to the skills they bring. Many see it as a way to get the skills of the guild for much less than what they would typically charge for the same service.
