The Didacy

The Didacy is an academy of magic, technology, science, and humanities located at the south pole of Perradin on the island of Greenwave. Originally founded in the 13th century by the legendary mage Fedrona, the Didacy's existence has drastically affected the history and development of all of Perradin. Led by the direct descendants of Fedrona, known as the Prime Didact, its advancements in science, magic, and language led to virtually all modern systems used by the societies of Perradin. Its actions as an organization both led to great advancement and immense destruction during the War of the Starfall. After the devastation of the war, its members assisted in the global recovery effort. Its magics led to the direct development of the global Sending Stone Network and Teleportation Commission.   Despite its advancements before and after the war, it gradually declined in relevance on the world stage as its territory declared independence, instigated the Didacy Civil War, and eventually subsumed its power as the Didacian Consulate in 3434. The Didacy after the rise of the First Consulate was guaranteed representation in the administrative decisions of the new government. Over the subsequent millennia and successor states in the region, the Didacy's influence was progressively reduced until only the rank of Didact retained its right in the line of succession in times of emergency in which on or both Consuls could not serve. The Didacy of the 91st century is characterized by its shrunken influence, dilapidated facilities, and low enrollment due to the actions of the late Didact Cassius III. The current Didact is Victus XXII, who was appointed amidst the succession crisis following the death of Cassius.
