Creative Practice Day 53

Home is such a funny thing. I went home for Thanksgiving

and as you might anticipate, all the old family habits came to visit too

My grandma, stressed and invalidated,

wringing herself out to make everyone happy.

My cousins, Aloof and irreverent

already taking, and taken, for granted.

Or my aunt, the baby

just trying to get through, unable to ask for help

Despite all this, there's always something new

My Cousin's baby, brand new

chubby and being toted around like a prizewinning loaf of bread

My sister, absent,

spending thanksgiving with her in-laws

My mother, riding the wave of life

made an "elixir" for me to take home

I didn't know my mom made elixiers now. that's cool
