Creative Practice Day 21

General Summary

"Hello Tania, Dawnmother. My sister. Ready to pander to the masses for the days of light then?" Tania heard the bite in her sister's words. "I never hated you, Vissa."  "No but they convinced you to ignore me. To hide me away for half the year. How could you do that to me?"  "I tell you the same thing every year. I did not set the day nor the night. You have your time, I have mine. Were you kinder, the people might enjoy the months of darkness more." Vissa, goddess of pitch and cold laughed an empty, cruel laugh.  "You might as well ask the moon to come to earth and the fire to freeze the water instead of melting it. We were both given our roles to play but you got the easy job."  "Perhaps." Tania fell quiet. Her light dimming in the evening sky that would only last another week. "I always wished we could coexist. I miss you in the height of summer."  "Do you expect me to share in your sentiment? Say I miss you in the deep of night when all is cold and quiet and nothing moves but the people in their huts and houses? When not even the worms below stir? No. I do not miss you, ever, in fact. The silence is what I live for."  "Our father should be pleased then. We both are who we were made to be. I hope you enjoy your season, Vissa." Vissa heard no guile in her words as she watched the Dawnmother turn, and walk back into the villiage of men.
