Creative Practice Day 20
General Summary
Thick dark smoke and stinging inscence veiled the chamber the Viceroy entered. A resonant, deep, and calm voice spoke from within the fog, "Good evening, Viceroy. Your presence is unexpected. Did you plan not work as you anticipated?"
"It did not and I think you knew that this would happen, Elza'drith. Is this a sign of betrayal, or a test?"
"I did know, in truth, that the rebels would diverge from your expectations and thwart your plan." Elza'drith's voice oozed like molasses as his towering head leered into veiw, yellow eyes gazing at the Viceroy. "You did, however, learn valuable insights into their strengths and weaknesses did you not? You even almost killed one. With proper preparation, now, you can pick them off one by one."
"I understand. But you lied."
"I'm a demon. And you summoned me. What did you expect to happen. Did you think me a Djinn? I don't grant wishes, even if you gave me your soul." The Viceroy stared silently at the demon for a time, glowering.
"If our partnership is to continue, and you are to continue to recieve these..." he waved to the various braziers of incense, bottles of exceedingly expensive wine, and choice cuts of exotic animals, "Luxuries... I need to be able to trust you."
"Threatening me are you? Well. I comply. By the next new moon those you wish to destroy will make their camp by the hidden waterfall near the mountain pass. Your scribe will know of it's location. Lie there in wait and you will be able to capture them if, and only if, you wait for the sound of the thrush. If you act before then, you and your group will all die. I give this to you with both hands and nothing hidden." The viceroy noted the ancient turn of phrase from his studies.
"If you betray me here, I have someone who will banish you for as long as humanly possible, and it will be painful."
"I have no desire to experience this. Go in peace knowing I have your best at heart."
"Forgive me for my caution."
"I expect nothing less, my leige." The demon bowed low, long horns nearly reaching the ground.
