Creative Practice Day 16
General Summary
It was an odd thing, you see. The two cousins were completely unalike in temperment, vocation, status, and appearance, yet, they had been inseparable since their first meeting. There they were, Jarran splayed on the sofa with the panache of a seasoned sailor, for he was one. On the other lounged Edmund, looking in every way as a European noble should, as you may have guessed, he was one.
"And what did you and your crew think of this new world cousin?" Edmund asked between sips of brandy.
"A richer land has never before been seen Edmund. The coast stretched on for miles. Strong trees, game everywhere you could imagine, and rumors of gold and silver farther inland. It could entice anyone! I'll say though I've never lived through a warmer summer season."
"Really? You don't say. How did you manage?"
"Spent a lot of time drinkin' ale or water, and dipping in the waters. Not much else you can do. I'm used to the shores by Dundee, and even in summer it never got that hot and humid."
"My. And the locals merely tolerate it?" Edmund asked, keen eyes peircing his cousin.
"Aye, far as we could tell. Saw 'em more in the evening though. I think they avoid bein' out workin' too hard in the hight of the day."
"And you had no conflict with them."
"No! Not this trip. Others have had contact with much more ferocious groups to the north and south, our were more understanding. They could be traded with, and we did. I'm glad of that, personally. We didn't have the manpower or the supplies to go around picking fights."
"Most interesting. I wonder why some groups are so hostile and others are more passive."
"I imagine if some far off peoples were to suddenly land in Scotland verses prehaps London, they would be less keen to interact with us crazed highlanders than they would the soft city folk of the big town eh?"
"Perhaps you are right. That or the stench of the Scot's food would drive them back into their boats before anything else" The two laughed merrily, a brotherly bond twinkling in their eyes.
