Romaya
Romaya is a small continent off of the western coast of Savidh. While it was discovered many centuries ago, it remained mostly unexplored due to its difficult landscape and the strange creatures that call it home. The dwarves weren't the first to arrive, but they were the first to chart much of the land. As such, they claimed it as their own, and established the Stormthorn Dominion. While a good portion of the continent remains uninhabited, the center stretch of land is a host to many settlements. The largest of them is Belisa, a massive port city tucked in beside the Lulencia Mountains on the western coast. The mountains provide many resources that are important to daily life, such as the Delonita River and its distributary, Dragonfly Creek.
A majority of the north is claimed by the Penmouth Wilds, a massive temperate rainforest that's cut off from the rest of the continent by the Delonita River. A sprawling underground cavern system spans through the forest and leads into the Lulencia Mountains. To the south is the Black Gardens, a much smaller rainforest, but much more dangerous than the Penmouth Wilds. It houses several volcanoes, one of which is active; and the Circle of the Crimson Nepenthes. Their presence has led to increased hostility in the wildlife, including the plants themselves.
On the southwestern coast is the capital city, Alencia, and an islet surrounding Mount Blackfuse, an active volcano. Romaya is rich in natural resources, which has led to the Liosduin Bhearna attempting to establish their own colonies on Romaya. The Stormthorn Dominion has disapproved of their presence and has had their settlements dismantled repeatedly. Tensions between both nations are high, and the southern portion of Romaya is a hotspot for skirmishes.
Most of Romaya's population is made up of dwarves, gnomes, halflings, and humans. Those of elven heritage are met with distrust and hostility. Tribes of orcs are native to the land and live in coastal villages such as Misthallow. Romaya has a humid continental climate, though the southern end of the continent falls into a boreal climate. Snowfall in the south is a frequent phenomenon, but the surrounding mountains shield the settlements from the worst of these storms. Rainfall is heavy and constant within the Penmouth Wilds, occasionally flooding the Delonita River.
Fauna & Flora
North and central Romaya are home to many species including leopards, brown bears, otters, beavers, geckos, box turtles, alligators, sheep, newts, pythons, seagulls, sandpipers, fish owls, giant falcons, odd-scaled snakes, and cobras. Some of its plants are spruce and fir trees, blueberries, hostas, ferns, irises, and several varieties of nightshade. In the northwest, there's marigolds, cherries, and grains such as millet and maize. In the colder climate in the south are snow leopards, bobcats, ermine, and yaks; though the latter lives high up in the mountains. Plants include wild rice, legumes like soybeans and chickpeas, and willow trees.
Animals native to Romaya exclusively are the gazehounds throughout the continent, and the bandersnatches that live in the mountains of the Black Gardens.
Natural Resources
Fish is one of Romaya's most common resources, as well as coal. While cod and pollock tend to be abundant, bluefin tuna is native to the seas surrounding the continent. The volcanic regions are mined for fire opals, obsidian, granite, and peridot. Other natural resources include emeralds, silver, titanium, limestone, and timber.
