Obliterator Class Missile Cruiser

Designed alongside the Titan Class Dreadnaught , the Obliterator missile cruisers were intended to operate as part of combined task forces along with the Ark Royal Class Carrier  and Johnston class destroyers, with all classes sharing the same basic hull and drive configuration. Equipped with forty multiple missile arrays, each capable of launching ten missiles at a time, the Obliterator could lay down a withering rain of fire on any target within range. Equipped with sprint mode missiles firing once a second, a single Obliterator could conceivably overwhelm even a Mykentian fleet carrier at close range.   The massed missile batteries of the Obliterator came at the cost of armor, however, leading to heavy casualties when attacked with armed warheads in the launchers. Like all Imperial ships, the Obliterator also suffered from small munitions magazines, limiting the length of any engagement or the variety of ordinance carried at one time.   Following the reunification of the Mykentian Republic, all Obliterator’s were placed in the reserve fleet as the Republic favored a single ship fleet centered on the fourth generation Titan dreadnaught.
