Ark Royal Class Carrier

Though classed as a carrier, the Ark Royal class could only carry a single squadron and was never considered adequate for the role in which it found itself. The task forces envisioned by the Terran Imperium for its second generation fleet, centered on the Titan Class Dreadnaught , were intended to provide a flexible response without the need for large capital ships. Only three of the original Ark Royal class would survive the Monsos War, and the Imperium would only construct more of them until their envisioned assault carrier became available.   The Ark Royal would see a brief resurgence during the First Antoskan War as a scout carrier due to the development of drone fighters. During the Second Antoskan War, Rear Admiral Jonathan Adex would rely on them for his mixed raiding force behind enemy lines, where their small size allowed hit and run attacks.   Following the reunification of the Republic, the Ark Royal class would be put in mothballs, reactivated during the First Enmalex War as a scout ship simply because the hulls were available.
