Fall of Gold Mousser

The Betrayal
BROKEN FENCE
Millbourn Price stepped out the back door of his trinket shop and locked the door as the closing bell rang down his street.   He turned to walk down the alley when he was grabbed by four city guardsmen who ignored his protests and declarations of innocence.   In the office of the Seabridge Captain of the Guard, he was ruthlessly questioned and threatened with death until he agreed to "assist" the captain with his plan.
THE TRAP
Price worked his trinket shop as he always had, including the purchasing of stolen goods brought in by thieves who had come to trust his discretion.   Unfortunately for the thieves, when they were invited into his backroom, they were met by guardsmen who tied them, gagged them, and quietly hauled them out the back door.   Flyn-Ra-Nyr, otherwise known as the Gold Mousser, entered Price's trinket shop to deliver a very rare amulet Price had "commissioned" him to aquire, for a very hefty fee, only to immediately smell the nervousness within Price.
WARNING FLEUR
Spinning on his heel, he turned around and left, cause a mad scrambling from the backroom as guards rushed out after him.   Flyn blended into crowds wherever he could find them, sprinted in silence to gaps between buildings, through alleyways when he could not, and did his best to evade the pursuit.   He managed to get close enough to his beloved daughter to toss her a warning signal before the pusuit rallied and was again on his tail.
Seabridge Docks
THERE WAS A SHIP...
Wavecutter, a ship known to taken on sudden passengers without batting an eye, and for a price, was scheduled to leave on the evening tide.   Flyn knew all the piers as well as any seasoned dockhand and worked his way through the bustle of loading, unloading, and hauling of cargo, getting ever closer to the Wavecutter.   Discreet glances revealed the pursuit seemed to be floundering and the anticipation of escape rose high within Flyn.

SQUEALING TO THE GUARD
"Start squeezing the dock rats," Norval Potter, Captain of the Seabridge Guard, snarled at the lieutenant who had just reported losing the thief on the Seabridge Docks.   With billy clubs and cutlasses, the guards began brutally questioning anyone they could grab until someone squealed about the true nature of the Wavecutter.   Captain Potter marched to the Harbormaster's Office, demanded the location of the Wavecutter, his narrowed eyes sending the junior harbormaster frantically shuffling through his ledgers until he found it.
THEY KNOW EVERY TIMBER
Most of the guards knew the docks as well as Flyn did and used their intimidating presense to force their way through with good speed.   Flyn worked at being as unnoticed as he possibly could, which was not as fast as the guards who would shove away anyone too slow to step aside.   He reached the Wavecutter's dock with the guard storming in right behind.
Last Stand
SHOVED OFF
The guards cut off any chance of retreat to the other docks, leaving Flyn no other choice but to make it to the ship.   Guard Captain Potter bellowed out for the harbor watch to stop any and all persons trying to board the Wavecutter, forcing Flyn to try for the mooring lines in hopes of running up on onto the ship.   Unfortunately, the Wavecutter crew heard the commands and their captain ordered them to shove off right then.
NO RETURN
Flyn raced for a line but the crew was too quick and cut the lines rather than untie them in a well-practiced move that hinted that this was not the first time the Wavecutter had done this.   With his last chance of escape gone, Flyn looked about the pier. There were three other ships he could use to hide and dodge away from the Seabridge guard on but, eventually he would be found.   He could dive into the water and try to swim for it but the harbor watch boats out there there was little chance of that succeeding.
THE CHOICE
In that moment of grim realization that capture was inevitable, Flyn decided he could not be taken alive and risk being magically forced to betray his beloved daughter Fleur.   Drawing their blood was the best way to ensure the guardsmen would come at him enraged so he threw a dagger into the knee of the nearest guard.   The guards surrounding him advanced with drawn cutlasses but it was not until he felled another with a jab through the eye that their discipline broke and they charged in shouting their ire.
Aftermath
THE LEGEND
None that day ever learned why the Gold Mousser chose death over capture but all agreed it was a deliberate choice.   Tales of his daring and outrageously successful heists have become beloved stories told over meals and bedtimes.   The death of the Gold Mousser at the hands of his guardsmen has become both a commendation and a foul mark on Captain Potter, making him a reluctant legend in Seabridge.
THE LADY
His beloved daughter Fleur was heartbroken and furious at his death.   She put all her skills into learning how her father came to is death on that dock.   A very few suspect the Lady of Flowers may have had a hand in the disappearance of Milbourn Price though none can say why.
