The Sel
The Sel, or the "high elves", are the dominant culture of the elves, and what is most known by non-elves as "elven culture". They are the oldest continued line of elven evolution on their home planet. Their civilization began in a similar way to Human civilization, gaining agriculture and settling river valleys.

Art & Architecture
The Sel are known for their pristine paintings, and orchestral music. They have a similar history to their art as European human art history. Art was seen, for many years, as a delight of the upper classes, to be rigorously trained and critiqued. These ideas have waned in recent times as the classes have merged in Elven society. There is one central art academy still, however, as well as many smaller ones, that still teach the classical skills of elven art.
High elf visual art is often political, historical, and representational in nature. Paintings often depict historical and political events in great detail. Much of this art is quite opulent, bringing silver and gold into the piece as materials to enhance the piece.
The highest form of music in high elven culture is the orchestral and symphonic pieces, similar to European classical music, however featuring varied sounds. Unlike in Earth classical tradition, electronic instruments were welcomed into the genre at their invention thousands of years prior. This lead to the common High Elven orchestra having a mix of wind, string, and electronic instruments, which creates a unique otherworldly sound.
