According to Professor Jonas Fogg, they seduce victims, ruin relationships and create obsessions. They can also spread plagues and pestillence, and they specialise in meeting the forbidden desires of their victims. They delight in using their seduction to spread chaos and disease, by charming their victims into physical contact. The Jonas Fogg Medical College Asylum had two Pairakas imprisoned within the asylum patients and one Pairaka (Fake-Yvette) imprisoned within one of Fogg's hand daggers.

Pairakas, like all Divs, have an irrational compulsion: a crack in their personality. Pairakas cannot abide the colour red. They will never wear red or willingly enter red areas (such as, for example, the Noble Court).
