Vault 30
This Vault was equipped with a perpetual booby trap system. Dwellers would be faced with new traps in new locations each month, so that they could never truly find a work-around for them.
It was believed the Silver Dollars emerged from this Vault. However, the Silver Dollars (or, at least the group of people that would become them) actually assisted in the Vault's demise. When the Vault opened in 2105, the very few survivors immediately left. However, they came upon the Silver Dollars' territory, and were immediately killed. The Silver Dollars never moved to claim the Vault for themselves despite its close proximity, probably knowing about the booby traps.
History
Vault 30 originally opened with about 203 inhabitants (they were hot-bunked, though there was some intentional overcrowding anyway). The booby traps worked on a cue system: meaning they would be cued to activate at specific times. No booby traps were set until about 14 weeks after the Vault was populated.
When the traps first started going off, the dwellers became frightened and paranoid. There was no place where traps would not go off, and any traps they managed to disable were either re-activated at a seemingly random time, or new ones would replace them in a new location. Regardless, nearly two-thirds of the Vault population died within the first three weeks of the traps' activations. The survivors were either more agile than average, or, in rarer cases, knew how to disable certain traps so that they could navigate the Vault. They tended to nagivate it in groups of four to six, with at least one person that was familiar with disabling traps.
The Vault was opened in 2105, and about half of the survivors managed to escape. Unbeknownst to them, a new tribe based out of Silver Dollar City was forming, and they did not take kindly to outsiders (calling them "Infidels"). As soon as the dwellers set foot on their territory, they were shot to death. According to the Silver Dollars, no one survived the attack.
