The Battle for the Center
Prelude
It had been nearly 100 years of the Sectors tormenting Oxerune. Nearly 100 years of their demon armies inflicting all manner of suffering on her people. Nearly 100 years of feelings of helplessness turning to anger, rebellion, determination, and hope. The young deities have risen from their respective tragedies. Kandetreath curing The Burning Light then with Hevolux sacrificing themselves to close a portal to the Sectors. Grüghil Magmabane giving everything he had to put an end to the siege by the hellbeasts. Caramip making a stand against the approaching army out of love for her home and neighbors. These young gods, alongside countless others who gave their lives to try and stand against the would-be conquerors even if it meant their lives were the sparks that would turn into a raging fire. One last blaze of glory to drive back the demons from the Sectors or die trying.
The Battle
No formal tactics would be found here. The only coordination being the beating of their hearts and the thump of their boots against the ground. The young gods used their new found powers to bring all willing to fight to the heart of the world, to Oxaren itself. At Hell's Scar, hell storms whipped around them, small explosions popping off with little to no warning. The corruption from the portals reached towards them as demons surged out to meet them. The Nine Heralds of the Sectors threatened to overwhelm, and for three long, grueling years the armies fought. No one expected the ragtag army made mostly of the desperate not soldiers to hold out this long, but with the fledgling gods on their side they held on.
Three long, grueling years passed and their army was wearing thin. The demon armies of the Sectors had been worn down enough that the Heralds themselves were finally out in the open giving Oxerune's last hope a chance to turn the tides. One by one, the brave Heroes of the World brought down the Heralds, but their losses were great. The young gods ability to help was dampened as they gathered their powers to form a seal to prevent the Sectors from launching another invasion. The last Herald—the Herald of Wrath—was considered to be the most powerful, as all who went against them fell swiftly to their cruel spear. One brave warrior would turn the tide Celniana Aelnor a.k.a. Cel saw the Herald prepare to launch an attack at the gods, defenseless as all their powers went to creating the Seal. In a moment of inspiration and bravery, Cel gave up her blessing from Caramip to feed their spell and other priests, shamans, and blessed soon followed. With a leap that seemed to give her wings, Cel's last attack on the Herald of Wrath heralded the creation of a new world, a new hearth, a new hope. The Seal was made and the brave warriors would be remembered as the Legion of the Gods. In memoriam of all who fell, a menhir was erected at Oxaren with the names of all the fallen. At the top is the symbol of Caramip and the hearth, and the symbol of Cel for her brave sacrifice, a sword with wings on the hilt. From this, Oxerune was born anew into a time of renewal, peace, and prosperity.
