Week 2 - Roots
I wasn't sure what to write for a reflection last week, the first homework seems to be a process of waking up for me and restarting the worldbuilding engine. This week I went back and glanced over the homework from last year and it's different but in like the best way. Last year was the perfect intro for me I feel like. There was focus on organization, cleaning up, finding community, which I really needed! I had just started using WorldAnvil since making an account 3 years ago. This year the focus is more on the worlds themselves which I find helpful. Of course there's still room for reflection, organization, and cleaning. It can also be that my own perspective has changed too and I'm seeing the things that are most important to me right now versus what was important back then. Only a year but so much has changed y'know? Onto reflecting on this week's homework though. I'm excited about this one! Mochi and Rin of Mochimanoban's Yonderverse and A to Zoo and Those2Nerd's wow that's a lot of stars are hosting the 2nd Annual Show Your Colors challenge. An unofficial challenge that asks worldbuilders to "add some queerness" to their creations. I love this idea and have started writing an article for it. No spoilers! But it does heavily feature the subculture wandering dwarves and it's something I want to carry into Summer Camp proper this year. I want to really develop the cultures of the different peoples in my world, and my dwarves are probably my favorite right now, and most developed though that is a low bar given the randomness of what I choose to work on. Anyway I think that about wraps up this rambling reflection. See you next week!
Week 3 - MetamorphosisThis one was a little challenging, I had a hard time focusing and doing it all in one sitting. I did persevere however and get it all done. I enjoyed getting to look at other worldbuilder's work and talk about the book I'm currently reading. I also found it helpful to consider how to take my inspirations and weave them into my world, as well as how things change in my world. Just a short reflection this week, I'm tired and want to play some video games. Light Up the Forge <3
Week 4 - TomorrowThis one was interesting, I struggled to come up with stuff to talk about but I'm also kind of sleepy today so I might come back to this one and work on it further. I liked thinking about the Undoing more and it's a good reminder I will eventually need to create a present day.
Another feral? Nice! Best of luck with your pledge and have fun :D
