Blood sterilization

The blood of Vampires contains specialized cells that behave like viruses, attacking Human cells and inserting their own DNA into those cells. These cells are called virites, and are used by vampires turn humans. Blood sterilization is a medical procedure that makes virites incapable of functioning, rendering a vampire's blood inert via regular injections of VA-CTLA. It is a common method of preventing Bloodline Theft, especially for those who fight humans often.

Utility

Blood sterilization is used to render Vampires incapable of turning a Human. It is most commonly administered to Vulhund, since they're not blood stable, and a human turned by them can suffer severe health consequences. Court militaries also use it, to prevent accidental turning of their human opponents.

Manufacturing

VA-CTLA is produced by genetically modified vampire killer T cells. Cultures of these cells are maintained in INSSO labs across the world.
Inventor(s)
Carol D. Harbin of INSSO invented the method used to create VA-CTLA.
Access & Availability
VA-CTLA is difficult to store, requiring refrigeration of about 15°C, and only having a shelf life of 1.5 weeks. It is only available at INSSO medical facilities. It's price varies from area to area; places closer to a lab have it for cheaper.
Discovery
In 1981, a blend of anti-virals and T-cell inhibitors was discovered to alter the function of virites, making it harder for them to infect human cells. In 1987, it was discovered that a specific chemical, VA-CTLA(Vampire anagaloge cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated protein), could consistently deactivate virites. While the vampire's body constantly creates more of these virites, it's also rather poor at flushing this chemical out of the system. An injection of VA-CTLA completely sterilizes the blood for 2 weeks, with fertility continuing to be lowered for some time afterwards.
