Vooram

A malevolent unnatural species. An average vooram grunt has one eye, two short horns and purple skin. They stand about the size of a human but with a hunched posture, almost standing like a bird with their long tails acting as a counterbalance and their forelimbs held in front. They have huge foot long claws and conical teeth made for holding onto their victims.
Vooram however can take on many different forms, when fighting killing they grow in status amongst their horde, the higher they rank the more they eat and the more their bodies gradually begin to change. The transformation of their bodies is largely unpredictable but seems to correspond to what their experiences suggest would be a good adaption and so is thought to be a somewhat conscious decision.
Some vooram will grow extra limbs, some will grow to monstrous sizes, some develop ranged biological weapons. Some will even become more like a sapient being, adopting an upright standing position and become more intelligent. Even when they achieve higher mental functions however they only ever use it as a tool to further their violent intentions.
They communicate with each other using growls and screeches similar to many pack animals, they are not capable of speech. However it isn't impossible an individual could attain the ability to speak, although for the most part this wouldn't be very useful for them since their kin wouldn't be able to understand anyway. It is also possible for them to incorporate found objects into their bodies, sometimes vooram have swords fused into their flesh at the handle. There has even been cases of salvian firearms fused to their bodies which they are somehow able to use despite the genetic locking mechanism built into them.
Vooram have no genders, instead they are spawned by one of their own kind through the mouth as what looks like a dense fleshy egg. The egg mass expands growing limbs, teeth and such into an emaciated regular vooram form within a day. Once fully formed they are very thin, the mass they where spawned from being only barley enough to get them to full size. Because of this they are ravenously hungry, usually vooram will spawn more when there is an abundance of food for the newly spawned ones to satiate this hunger. If not however these new spawns are even more vicious, wasting no time slaughtering and devouring anything they can find, even others of their kind.
Vooram biology is very alien, their cells do contain DNA however it is Identical every vooram and is very short as if hand crafted for efficiency rather than naturally evolving. This contributes to their cells being able to divide incredibly quickly, which helps to explain how they are able to go from egg to fully formed in such a short period of time. Although they have DNA they are able to change the form of their body as they grow. There is no evidence of magic being used in this transformation, in fact they don't seem to use magic at all unless they somehow adapt it. Thus their transformation is purely organic. It's theorised that they may release chemical signals through sections of their body, changing how their cells read and interoperate their DNA in order to change how their bodies grow.
After spawning their cell division rate slows naturally but they are seemingly able to accelerate this allowing them to heal from serious wounds much more quickly than any normal non-magical creature.
