Just over 200 years ago in a time of great technological progress humans discovered a way to create interdimensional gateways. Discovering many new and strange worlds full of never-before-seen lifeforms and even other sapient beings. This exploration however opened them up to new worlds of danger. During an expedition into another realm a person was infected with an infection that went beyond the physical into an as of yet unexplored avenue of metaphysical energy. Humanity was woefully unequipped to deal with the chaotic plague that infected the magical core of entities warping them into powerful monstrosities.   To make things worse the large concentration of chaotic energy now in earth realm attracted the attention of a powerful entity known as Aeon, a dark god of chaos. He manipulated the energy and plague into his own army, creating powerful archdemons to command his armies. With the hoards now coordinated humanity stood little chance, even with their technological power and the assistance of other races from across the multiverse, predominantly the magically capable elves. Humanity was pushed to the brink of extinction, the earth ravaged by the corrupting power of chaotic energy. Humanity began to execute a collection of contingency plans, establishing settlements across the multiverse to ensure humanity's survival.   The arrival of the angel forged however marked a turning point in the struggle. Using their immense magical power the angels lay waste to the chaotic hoards, clashing against the archdemons and eventually even sealing away the influence of Aeon. The chaotic beasts still roam the wastelands of earth but humanity now has a better understanding of magic and the plague and as such have multiple countermeasures in place to prevent another outbreak like the first.   Having come through such hardship humanity now finds itself at the precipice of unending possibilities. Worlds of technology and of magic, of monsters and gods, allies and enemies. Far beyond the bounds of the earth who knows what else is out there.
