Snaproach

An insect about the size of a medium dog that somewhat resembles a cockroach. It's defining characteristic however is it's absolutely massive pincers that are almost the length of it's whole body. The pincers are serrated with larger protrusions at regular intervals and dagger like hooks at the very end. They are able to pull back their pincers 180 degrees locking them backwards adjacent to their bodies. The tendons and muscles connected to their pincers create a large amount of tension so that when the locking mechanism is released the pincers snap closed with deadly force capable of cutting clean trough flesh down to the bone. After snapping their pincers it takes a few seconds for them to reset. So a creature lucky enough to avoid being struck has some time to run or fight back.
