Dartbeak
A mid sized bird with a long straight and sharp beak. They are somewhat terrifying creatures as they divebomb into targets at high speed beak first with the intention of lodging it deep inside so they can suck out the victim's blood.
One of these creatures is bad enough but they often hunt in swarms, riddling a creature with holes and sucking their veins dry.
It was thought for a long time that some kind of dark magic must have been involved to create such horrible creatures but all evidence points towards a natural development, having biology completely within the bounds of modern understanding and no magical capabilities of their own to speak of.
