Steaders

Steaders are descended from the inhabitants of the great city ruins. They are those who chose to forsake the ruins and brave the forests of Hopefall . Many who set out were never heard from again, but some formed thriving hamlets that trade with the outside world. Even outside the ruins Ravagers and Utopia Pacification Forces pose a threat. Traders report doing good business with a secluded hamlet for years only to return to an raided ruin. However the protective cover of the forest permits the hardy and lucky to form small tribes of Steaders. The fear of Utopian discovery has given them peculiar superstitions regarding Armor Cursed individuals.

Coming of Age Rites

Once a Steader is ready to become an adult they perform the Rite of Proving. If they are proven to be Armor Cursed they are immediately exiled. If they are proven not to have the curse they are considered an adult within the hamlet.

Common Taboos

Steaders distrust Armor Cursed individuals. They believe that the curse attracts the attention Utopian Pacification Forces even if unused. They do not permit Pariahs or any Armor Cursed into their hamlets.
