Sorcery

What is Sorcery?

Sorcery is the practice of calling into being a diverse range of magical effects. Practitioners of the type of magic, called sorcerers or sorceresses, have mastered the ability to bend reality to perform feats of both offensive and defensive, destruction and creation. Forming impenetrable barriers of force, or bolts of magical energy aimed at their enemies are the kind of abilities one would expect to see from a sorcerer, though that is just the beginning. Sorcerers can also manipulate the magical energies for more esoteric ends, like scrying, paralysis, or causing those around to fall into a deep slumber.   Very seldom does a sorcerer call out to a greater being for magical assistance, that being within the realms of Liturgical and Ritual magics. A sorcerer relies on his or her own strength of will to sculpt the energies of creation and force reality to conform. This school of magic is draining on the individual's psyche, and as a result, a period of rest is required after a strenuous amount of casting. If a practitioner continues to cast beyond his or her limit, the risk of "burning out" the talent becomes more and more likely. Those that burn out the gift for sorcery may require greater amounts of rest in order to regenerate their psyche.   Examples of sorcerous spells can be found below.
