General Summary

SESSION BEGINS around 4pm on Denocc 29th, as the group steps through into LIMBO.
  • When they RETURN from LIMBO, MAK'TI and BEGLAR will roll a d20 each (straight), 1-10 still current state when they arrive, 11-20 revert to GAEL and Belgar with all memories
  • TIMESHIFT - roll a d20, a 1 or a 20 will cause time to SHIFT weirdly - (20 it goes fast, 1 is goes slow) - then roll a d8 (if it was a 1 to determine how many hours have passed) or a d6 (if it was a 20 to see how many days have passed)

LIMBO

You are floating in a seat of swirling colors and matter, boulders and rocks move and shift around you, bits of elemental energy wafts pass as you gaze into the endless horizon and see only chaos and flashes of energy.

GITHZERAI TRIALS (Transmutation)

(You hear a familiar voice, similar to the one Da'ath encountered when his consciusness entered limbo. Only now it is joined by a chorus of other voices, all speaking in unison)   Here, we mold the matter of Limbo with our minds. We forge cities with our thoughts. In its chaos we dwell, with only our knowing to preserve us. We are the githzerai. Dak'kon   You came here seeking aid, but is the Black Tear worthy of it? GORRAZAR TRIAL (Conjuration & CONSTITUTION)

Purpose. It drives us all, keeps us standing when everyone else has fallen down. Or at least it should. Do you know yours? Do you know why you're here? Why you fight?
SIGN READS : This way to Starstone Cathedral. On the other side is a large wooden door. When opened, it leads to an underground tunnel, and what appears to be a MAZE.
  • MAZE - only when GORRAZAR Leads the way do they make progress, otherwise they go in circles, radiant damage from the BRIGHT WALLS every minute (CON Sav DC17, 1d12 Radiant Damage) - 7 correct CONSECUTIVE turns by Gorrazar gets them through
  • FINAL BATTLE TEST INSIDE CATHEDRAL - Encounter with Planetars (2x)
  • THEY DO NOT FIGHT, go around the Planetars as Gorrazar CHOOSES to stay with the group and move on, instead of turning back to his old realm. The Planetars do not attack his allies and let them follow
You claim to hate the gods, but you walk the path they have put before you. Are you an ally? Are you truly here to help the Black Tear? Or are you merely a victim of circumstance and the whims of a god? This battle is not for the weak-hearted, not for those who move where the breeze takes them. You must CHOOSE to be here, and if that is not your desire, you must choose to leave. (A shimmering blue portal opens before you, through it you can smell the familiar scents of the lands of your home)

MAK'TI or GAEL (Divination or Illusion & INTELLIGENCE)

Knowing yourself, knowing your allies, having the brains to tell the difference, both will be essential in the coming battle. One of you is not who they say they are. In this trial, your job is to figure out who it is, before time runs out. (Every couple minutes INT Sav Throw DC16, Fail take 1d6 Pyschic Damage)
  • Set a 15 minute timer - hand out the post-its, and let them fight. No one is a doppelganger, the actual fraud is Mak'Ti.
You have failed, but the test was unjust, and more to illustrate a point to one of you. You must know yourself, if you are to succeed.
  • The group finds itself just outside the necromansion in Chalinos, performing a ritual presided over by Mak'Ti as he channels their combined energies through the weave to destroy the original "Mass Raise Undead" Spell created by Drew Scroll. As the ritual completes, the form of Mak'Ti, spent by the immense energies consumed and spent to wipe the spell scroll from the weave, begins to glow, and disappear, his magicks released back into the weave as he leaves his allies behind in death. SUDDENLY, the world twists violently, a blur of golden lines, black feathers, shimmering blue circles, spinning stars, and then a dirt field, in the distance a gargantuan column, beyond imagination, with a massive, donut-like ringed city orbiting its top-most spire. From the dirt rises a shadow, at first so inky black that you cannot make out the details, and then you see feathers, blue-tinged, and a beak. Rapid, crazed, without thought, the creature rushes off into the distance, surviving for weeks? months? it cannot tell off whatever food it can forage, fighting off all manner of aberrent creatures using its surprising resilience, until one day, utterly spent, the creature collapses in a dark forest, and changes to a familiar Vedalken form who awakens with a confused gasp. (as the images flash before the party, Mak'Ti/ Gael feels like a mind is probing his own, digging deep for hidden crevices and shining a light onto whatever they find). Flashes appear now, almost still images,of images of Mindflayers, Aboleths, and Beholders tangling with the Vedalken, who appears to have put on significant bulk and seems much hardier than when he first arrived. There is an image of him meeting a creature who Gael (and now suddenly, Mak'Ti) knows as Tyrza Bonebreaker, and images of Tyrza training Gael as an Alathar, and of them fighting many battles together. The images stop, Gael is standing before a raven, who then becomes a wereraven with blue-tinged feathers. They stare at eachother, speachless. The vision changes and Gael is speaking to a strange group of creatures who open up a gate, not unlike the portals between dimensions, and Gael heads through to find his new purpose.
You chose death to save yourself, and the world. But the world, and the Dark Queen, weren't done with you yet. Lycanthropy gave you a new form, the Outlands gave you a second chance, but something inside you did not want that, and chose a new life instead. But who are you really now? Are you the Eye of the Ushani? A Wizard with the sight to guide this world to salvation? Or a Duskwalker of the Alathar? A Ranger with the skill to fight back the darkness? Are you a Recompensator, or a Black Tear?
  • FINAL BATTLE INSIDE DRAGON CASTLE Encounter with Beholder and Hobgoblins
  • Mak'Ti chooses to FIGHT as Gael, who persuades the HOBGOBLINS not to fight againt them. 
  • Group Handily defeats the Beholder
  • Gael CHOOSES the Spellbook, and becomes FULLY MAK'TI, with all of the memories of both of his selves and a restored EYE
  • Da'ath falls to his knees in worship
You cannot win this battle with your heart and mind split in two. You must CHOOSE who you are. (you hear two thuds behind you, as a pair of objects hit the stone floor. A spellbook, and a bow)

COMPLETED PARTS

  • JUDAI'ARUK Taking Control of the Cabal of Cthulhu
  • T'nin defects to Judai'aruk, having regained his memories, bringing the Vedalken the bottle of LUKAS HELVIIREN, who T'nin overheard speaking about his master, the Djinn Genie Keth. They torture Lukas and get the location of Keth, and they head to EXPA to demand wishes from her, bringing the might of the Cabal alongside them.
  • Next he finds the mortat remains of DREW SCROLL, intent on raising him from the dead using the ROD OF RESURRECTION stolen by the X-CULTISTS from the Cathedral to Boldrei in BOLUDO, so he can cast the MASS RAISE DEAD spell he created over 100 years ago
  • Next, he sets RENARD to find Eldath and STEAL THE CARAFE, fulfilling the VISION
  • At first Judai'aruk wishes for Cthulu to be awoken and freed, but not even Keth has that power. Next, he wishes for all the recombined ORRERY of the WANDERER, which she reluctantly grants him, massively weakening herself in order to save LUKAS's life. The half drow escapes, but not before he sees Judai'aruk kill Keth in her weakened state, having used so much power to gather and reconstitute the remaining pieces of the Orerry. Next he sets his sight on the KRAKEN SKULL in front of the YAW SHIP

  • Next, he sends the ABISHAI to Magiault to Steal the POWER STONE, using the EYE OF MAK'TI to guide them to it
