Lydalada’ath Stormcall

Backstory

• To hate Mind Flayers
• To resent Githzerai (Mostly for their perceived weakness)
• To consider Red Dragons allies, always to be relied upon
• To revere Vla’akith the 127 th , the queen of the Gith (Not known to be a Lich)
• Sent to a “creche” somewhere in Domunz
• DM’s discretion as to location
• Aged into adulthood at the creche as is custom

Returned to Tu’Narath to begin the ritual of maturation by first meeting with his mother and father

• Lydalada’ath boastfully states he’ll return with the head of an Ilithid, as is required by custom
• As Lydalada’ath flies on dragonback through the portal, Nirosian attempts to strengthen the psychic connection, so that his son will both benefit from those powers and hopefully return more cooled and conscientious of others
• The combination of the psychic connection and the portal (and perhaps other magiks) throws Lykalada’ath into a space in between planes – a twisted nether realm where he both exists and doesn’t

An untold period of time passes

• Lykalada’ath begins to hear dissonant whispers in his head
• He sees what appears to be a twisted combination of limbo, the material, the astral, and what his father has described as “shadow fell,” though he has never been.
• A glowing blue eminence seeps toward his mind, and the dissonant whispers, now screaming, command him to press the token on his left arm. A bracer has appeared. He presses it, and blue-black energy surges forth, creating a portal. He falls through into a location in Domunz; unknown where. (Bracers don't activate at first, blocked by Illithid magic)

Lykalada’ath now finds himself in a different world.

• It is unknown how much time has passed, but he knows it has.
• Is the creche still there? Do mindflayers still exist?
• He now has a glowing black-blue bracer on his left arm.
• When he attempts to take it off, screams in his head in all manner of languages.When he attempts to use it, a voice, in draconic

“not yet, boy”

Initial Goals

• Find the creche and his people
• Kill a mindflayer and complete the ritual of maturation
• Discover the mystery of this bracer

Unknown initial goals

• Find the githzerai
• Bring peace to his mind
• Forge a psychic connection to the sapphire dragon

Qualities

• Idealist – will often speak about justice and other high minded ideals in a naïve way
• Warrior – when battle is necessary, he is ruthless and efficient (Does not have the conqueror mindset some of his kin have)
• Abhors mind flayers – will attack on sight
• Impressed by martial prowess
• Considers extreme arcane abilities to be a serious danger
• Considers the use of psychic powers not by Gith to be even more of a danger

Hidden Qualities – from time between planes

• Fascinated with Shadowfell (May consider those from Shadowfell allies)
• Talk of the Ravenqueen may put him in a trance
• Warlocks aligned with the Ravenqueen will have an easier time persuading him or recruiting him outright Cuer Vobrujo - Minotaur M Warlock - Feywild Guide 
• Longing to go to limbo (Will take any chance he can get to proceed into limbo.)
• Will not attack Slaads unless they attack him first

Quirks

• Attempting to connect to the Astral Plane during a long rest has a chance of connecting him to Limbo, Shadowfell, or (very rare) another plane (this is more likely when around sources of extreme psychic ability or wild magic.)
• This should have an impact both on his personality and the bracer, but also potentially his alignment.

Sapphire Bracer

• The bracer was a gift from a Sapphire Dragon whose name, location, age, sex, etc. are all unknown, but it should be the case that this Dragon is ancient or older than ancient, and it’s motives are unknown.
• The bracer is a more extreme and focused version of the psychic connection all Gith have with the Astral plane, or Limbo if you’re Githzerai, forged into a weapon (As such, it should manifest weapons or abilities relative to the plane, planeswalker, or creature it is connected to)
• The bracer was “damaged” by its time between planes and in a minor state of non-existence, however, and Lykalada’ath will not be able to use it to its full potential until much later, but for now he may be able to use it to bring to bear psychic javelins and perhaps even re-direct dissonant whispers to enemies, at the DM’s discretion.
• The bracer does not “speak” and does not have a mind of its own.

Location Based Property Change

• If/when Lykalada'ath travels to certain planes of Existence linked to his past, the Bracer changes its properties while in that Plane. When he leaves that Plane, it returns to normal
• LIMBO - Bracer suddenly appears to be made of petrified wooden and shrinks down to look like a thin bracelet on Lyka's wrist, and can be used to send the Cantrip MESSAGE at will
• Limbo
• ASTRAL PLANE or SEA (Wildspace) - Bracer turns GUNMETAL grey and you can cast the Air Bubble spell at LVL 2 two times a day from it
• Astral Plane or Sea - WILDSPACE
• SHADOWFELL - Bracer turns obsidian BLACK and extends to cover Lyka's full arm including his shoulder, and can be used for attacks, bludgeoning damage (unarmed attack, using STR modifer to add to ATTACK & DAMAGE)
