Cult of Lolth

CONNECTIONS TO DOMUNZ:

Was the Goddess of Miraxalim when she was still known as Araushnee, before her exile. Founders of Miraxalim were originally a small sect of Araushnee worshippers who had been banished for their beliefs, and Araushnee had led them to Domunz, a fertile and unoccupied land where they could live without persecution and worship her freely.    However, centuries later, when the Aboleths and Krakens of the sea eventually learned of the growing settlement, they sent their hordes to destroy Miraxalim and its occupants, and Araushnee did not intervene, as she was currently involved in her own war amongst the gods which would end in her own banishment, and her name change to Lolth. Therefore the Elves of Miraxalim gratefully accepted the aid of the Gods of Domunz, who offered to help them expel the sea creatures and end the rule of the leviathans over the Lancu Sea.    Once Lolth was in a position to do anything, she knew any action she took against the Elves of Miraxalim would be opposed by the Gods of Domunz, and ultimately the very gods she had just failed to best, so she waited for her moment to strike, knowing it would come one day.    And she began sowing her plans once humans came to Domunz from Eberron, and though the people of Obreriault were unfriendly to magic users and refused her pacts, eventually came Ryker McAult, hungry to form a new magic using nation in Domunz, and unfettered by an moral obligations, the perfect tool to let Lolth's influence in. Even after Ryker managed to stop Lolth from making direct pacts with Magiault spellcasters, she did manage to trick Ryker into summoning her spawn, the Anachime Sudex, which indirectly linked Lolth to most of the spellcasters in Magiault. Lolth even sacrificed some of her underdark Drow to Ryker so the woman could perfect the process, allowing Lolth's influence into Magiault, and setting in motion all the events up to the present day, where Ryker is a Lich ready to be unleashed upon the world, the Anachime Sudex is granting power to the Merrow spellcasters so they can revive the leviathan Krakens and Aboleths of old, and the cursed "Protection Stones" are giving her direct access to powerful spellcasting families, like the Scrollage/ Scroll family, to destroy those who would seek to prevent her dark intentions.
  • Everything is now falling into place for her ultimate goal, vengeance against the Elves of Miraxalim and the Gods of Domunz, as she wipes Domunz cleans of everything that has been built there.
  • Her newest tool is Elyria, a powerful Drow from a family that had been enhanced by Ryker herself centuries before, her ancestor the only Drow to escape Domunz, her family one of the only Drow not to make a pact to Lolth for their power. But in her desperation in Domunz, Elyria is hungry for power, and Lolth is only all too willing to give, knowing the time will come that Elyria will be her servant, and will be ideally place to betray her allies and ensure victory.
  • Lolth, Chief Goddess of Drow Elves

Lolth (Lloth in the drow dialect), the Demon Queen of Spiders, is the chief goddess of drow elves. She is also known as the Spider Queen and the Queen of the Demonweb Pits.

    DOMUNZ HISTORY:
    • Lolth lost a lot of power and followers in Domunz and within the Oroccid Drow following the events of C2 and Elyria's revelation of Lolth working with Ryker McAult to subjigate Domunz and using Drow as experiments for the Sudex, neither caring for the lives of the drow. Though many have turned away from Lolth, there are still some hardcore Drow followers who will never abandon their queen, they have just fallen into the shadows and sworn vengeance against Elyria and her allies.
    • Now devotees to Lolth are only "tolerated" in Zyn, with few in power knowing that a secret Cult of Lolth has sprung up with a secret HQ near the Shrine to her in the poorer sections of Zyn. The head of the Cult, who claims to communicate direction with their Patron (Lolth) is named Sygo Bhirdedon, and using his abilities has set the following as the guardians to their HQ:

    Statue of Lolth
    • The statue attacks any who do not face it and say the password:
    "Regina aranea resurget"
    • (The queen spider will rise again)
    • Most members are Drow Arachnomancers (very dangerous)
    • Drow-arachnomancer CR 13

    Description
Lolth is a demon lord and a goddess worshipped by the drow (some myths propose that she was originally a goddess who was transformed into a demon). She displays formidable power and great cruelty with an affection for arachnids. Goddess of Darkness, Drow, Evil, and Spiders (and assassins and chaos in the Forgotten Realms), Lolth has, through deceit and domination, garnered the ears of the dark elves and eventually established herself as their foremost deity, keeping them under her thumb by creating a society in which only the strong survive and her priestesses are strongest.
Lolth is a Chaotic Evil Greater Power. Her symbol is a black spider with the head of a female drow (and in the Forgotten Realms, hanging from a spider web).
Lolth's appearance has remained the same with small changes and modifications throughout the game's three editions. Lolth usually appears in two forms: drow and arachnid. In drow form, the Spider Queen appears as an "exquisitely beautiful" female dark elf, sometimes covered in clinging spiders. In her arachnid form, Lolth takes the appearance of a giant black widow spider with the head of a female drow or human peering from between the eight spider-eyes. Sometimes, the two foremost pair of her spider-legs are actually humanoid arms. In third edition, her arachnid form has taken more of a drider-like appearance, due to the events of the "War of the Spider Queen" novel series.
    Realm
Lolth dwells in her divine realm of the Demonweb Pits, a demonic realm formed entirely of a single great fractal web, where she is served by legions of powerful mystical slaves. Lolth's residence in this realm is a mobile iron spider-shaped stronghold. In the default Dungeons & Dragons cosmology, the Demonweb Pits are located on the 66th layer of the Abyss (although in the Queen of the Spiders supermodule, author David C Sutherland locates her realm on layer 65). In the current iteration of the Forgotten Realms campaign setting, the Demonweb Pits is a plane to itself. However, there appears to be some controversy regarding the status of the Demonweb Pits in that particular campaign: the 3rd edition campaign setting says that the Demonweb Pits are a separate plane, but in the novel Extinction by Lisa Smedman they are explicitly referred to as part of the Abyss, namely the 66th layer (as in the "default" cosmology). But, as seen by the end of the War of the Spider Queen series, it is shown that the Demonweb Pits had, while Lolth was "evolving," separated and became its own plane.
    Relationships
Lolth has sworn vengeance against Corellon Larethian and his people. She has her own rivalries with the various demon lords of the Abyss, noticeably with Zuggtmoy, the Demoness Lady of Fungi. However, Lolth's re-ascension to true godhood has basically elevated her above competition from the Lady of Fungi, but the two still harbor hatred for one another.
