Aldryne the White - Ancient White Dragon
Came to Domunz at the bidding of its God, Tiamat, who appeared to him in a dream and bade him come to Domunz and smite the Gold Dragons who had allied with the elves against the Old Gods.
Aldryne was more cunning than most White Dragons though, and he struck the Gold Dragons when they were weak, taking special advantage of the Oathbow Wars to rain death upon his enemies when they were distracted or injured. He left Domunz thinking his job was done, little knowing one dragon remained, the oldest and cleverest of all the gold dragons, Rekla of the Wyksekul clan.
Centuries later, older and wiser, Aldryne learned of Rekla's survival in Domunz, sharing his mountain lair with a human wizard as they researched their alchemy together under the new Gods' banner. Aldryne headed for Domunz leaving a swath of destruction in his wake, but leaving survivors so Rekla would know he was coming.
Aldryne arrived to the mountain lair, ready to feast on human flesh as well as Rekla's scales, but discovered Rekla's pet human had fled, and Rekla stood to face him alone in the cold mountain cavern.
Rekla put up a mighty battle, and the thunder of the dragon battle could be heard for miles around. But in the end, Aldryne bested the old Gold dragon, and the last Gold of Domunz fell. As he lay dying, Aldryne asked Rekla why the wizard did not stay to help, taunting him about the cowardice of humans and elves, and how Rekla's people had died for nothing.
Rekla told him an evil even greater than Aldryne was coming to Domunz, and they had split up, each to prepare to face their own destiny. As he took his dying breath, Rekla warned Aldryne not to underestimate the mages of this land, for their power could bring destruction far beyond Domunz.
Aldryne spent decades searching for the mage Rekla had partnered with, even working with lesser creatures like Lizardfolk and goblins to do his dirty work, and bring him research and items from smaller passages in the mountain lair he could not enter without destroying.
While Aldryne did learn the man's name "Livero Domusul," neither he nor any of his agents ever found the spellcaster. Aldryne did learn about Ryker McAult through Livero's notes, and her bringing the Anachime Sudex to Domunz, which amused him greatly, and he wondered if that was what Rekla worried about so much.
Aldryne did not see how humans and elves stealing power from an elemental fish should be of much concern to dragons. When he had plundered the lands and learned all he could, Aldryne realized how comfortable he was in Rekla's old lair, his old foe's body frozen in the ice below his feet, and he made his own lair there, now feeling himself the master of Tufenes, where few were his equal. Finding few to challenge him, he settled in one day to await a new report about potential offspring of Livero, little realizing a contingent of DWARVES had made their way to the mountain, armed with a new magical item they had concocted called the DRONIGAR, using it to make Aldryne susceptible to magical influence. They cast a a deep slumber of the dragon, one that required sound waves to hit a certain high-pitched frequency, rare to impossible to find on the Material Plane, to awaken the dragon.
They sealed the entrances they could on the mountain, careful not to make a noise, and left the dragon in its slumber, where it remained for centuries as the world of Domunz changed around him, and most forgot about the chapter when Aldryne the White terrorized and ruled over Tufenes.
Dialogue:
"I can feel its magic in your veins."
"You, Drow woman, and half-breed. Standing so proud with your ill-gotten power. With no idea where it comes from. But I know its source."
"You think yourselves my equal. While the filth of the Anachime Sudex sullies you blood. My power comes from REAL Gods."
"(to Alphanis) You and your people are a lie. A carefully crafted one at that. You were not born with divine gifts. What makes you special was STOLEN. And to this day, McAult's people continue to steal it."
"The corruption of your people, of your Gods, is beyond the pale."
"Thieves of the planes."
"Arcane kidnappers."
"(to anyone who speaks of peace) And how peaceful has Domunz been? Could it be that magic is not the divine bringer of life they claim it to be? Could it be that granting pitiful mortals divine powers results in chaos, death... war? Did I not hear of man in Chalinos last decade wielding that kind of power? There's a reason the real Gods don't give this gift to everyone. There's a reason the my Gods culled out the WEAK!"
