Blocks, Stocks, and Bonds

In a universe where money is might and might makes right, the richest corporation is the most mighty. Blocks Stocks and Bonds manages the stock of every other corporation in the New Economic Block. They are directly responsible for the management of the NEB economy and for keeping the other corporations from ripping each other to pieces. Their accountants are mentally (and sometimes physically) sharp as knives, keeping the universe going by sheer corporate efficiency.   For Blocks Stocks and Bonds, the status quo is king. All their might is focused on keeping things stable. Blocks Stocks and Bonds almost never votes on the Council unless the vote would be unanimous. It seeks to avoid making enemies at all costs, knowing that its limitless wealth is tied to other companies. If they decide the price of their stock is arbitrary and Blocks Stocks and Bonds is a threat, the corporation would eventually fall to a multi-pronged attack. Neo-Humanity rarely meets their forces in battle. In the corporation's view, it's easier to let the Neo-Humans live and then establish trading routes... but it has been dragged along with the rest of the NEB corporations into the current cold war.   Blocks Stocks and Bonds is a prim, proper corporation. Everything is done by the numbers, using policies and procedures set down by accountants from as early as the 17th century. As such all they care about is how effectively you follow these corporate rules, making them a startlingly fair company to work for. Employees with greater responsibility are, of course, held to higher standards. GLAs and hybrids are afforded equal opportunities within Blocks Stocks and Bonds, but equality is a relative concept. The oldest employees of the company are over three hundred years old, and the company places great stock in seniority and experience. A GLA or hybrid will have to wait at least eight more decades to reach the rarefied air of upper management.
