Mental characteristics
Personal history
As a direct descendent of Teregun Yarr, Helios and his brother Ahskaf were highly regarded and considered the natural leaders of the Cradle. As the younger of the brothers Helios was never the true leader of the Cradle but more a second in command. He had grown up in the seclusion of the Cradle of Eternity following the old ways of the Ordo Templaris. Tradition was one of the cornerstones of the inhabitants of the Cradle, much because of their isolation form the rest of the galaxy. Helios grew up learning these traditions and the importance of them. In contrast to his brother however, he believed the traditions should be kept at any cost and that only The Architect could change their way of life. The Cradle became split, with a majority for staying isolated and following Helios. A confrontation between Ahskaf and Helios resulted in Ahskafs imprisonment leaving Helios in command of the Cradle.
When the fifth Crusade rediscovered the Cradle they were at first taken to the prison for safe keeping until they could be questioned. Helios wanted to make sure they were not a threat and truly were who they claimed to be but never got the chance before they made their escape, releasing Ahskaf in the process. Helios died later when Ahskaf regained control of the Cradle.
Education
Like his brother Helios received a long and extensive education. The very nature of the Cradle and the lack of enemies or war allows for a focus on education and research. He was educated well in politics and statecraft, mostly theoretical. He had the equivalent of a doctorate in biology, biochemistry, botany, paleontology and paleoethnobotany. Several decades were also spent learning military strategies, combat training and psychological warfare, something required of the leader of the cradle in the event of discovery or an invasion, and natural for him as the next in line should Ahskaf die.
