Dr. Berg

Starting his career 32,553 TYA he was the most promising student of Engineering at the Duunas Centre of Knowledge. He had a breakthrough in robotics and went on to design and reinvent many different models to serve the Duunas people in all fields of business from harvesting crops, to mining and maintenance. He also worked with the defensive systems and built several combat models.   By the time he was 35years old he was already a predominant and respected figure in the community, but would soon gain even more recognition when he graduated again with his second doctorate in biology. He spent the next 20 years working with his robotics to always have an edge over anyone else in the galaxy, but also spent considerable time studying bioengineering.   In 32,587 TYA Dr. Berg made a proposal to the High council of the Duunas. He warned them of the raising Ordo threat and offered to start research and production of a line of force-fighting combat droids. He wanted to merge robotics and biology to allow a computer-controlled droid to utilize the force as a weapon to protect them from what he considered an imminent danger to the Duunas. The High council shut down his plans, stating that kind of research would be far too dangerous. Instead they requested a series of droids be made to recognize force users and pacify them. They wanted a non-lethal line of commands as they recognized the diversity of their friends and wanted to be able to deal with friends without harm if need be. It was decided that all defensive droids on Dosuun would scan all organic life to determine if the creature or individual was force sensitive and if so have them detained. Dr. Berg complied and with a team of engineers got the new series developed and produced.   Dr. Berg never completely accepted the High Council's decision regarding his force-fighting droids however and started working on this in secret spread across several hidden labs and workshops usually hidden within other facilities usually underground. Only when diplomatic relations between the Duunas and the Kings of the fourth Crusade broke down was Dr. Bergs work sanctioned, and his previous work had by then already paid off. His biggest lab was hidden in plain sight, close to the capital of the planet, and appeared to be a normal robot research and development lab. This is where he stored most of his research and information. He worked on this until 32,622 after TYA when all information suddenly stops…. In his main lab or data storage there is a wealth of information found. It appears Dr. Berg worked on his pet project for at least 34 years based on his logs and official records. There was a list of captured Ordo crusaders used for experiments to learn and understand how the force worked. The pain and torture the test subjects endured must have been gruesome. Many have looked to the force for power, longevity or knowledge, however Dr. Berg meant it was a matter of science, and could be understood through experimentation and tests. Mythical or spiritual means was something elusive and not tangible, therefore ignored by the doctor.   During his research it seems he learned a great many other things regarding robotics and biology and towards the end it seems he was more focused on directly merging robotics and biology, taking tissue from a living creature to make a machine that was part man part machine that would easily adapt to the living beings’ organs tissue and memories. His dream seemed to have the perfect robot, with the strength, speed and power of a robot with a supercomputer, but still maintain the ability to reason and think like an organic being. In many respects this would mean eternal life. From his notes it seems he had many problems with the project but the notes and with one curious note. “I found it, the perfect lemniscate….” After this his notes end, and it would almost seem like everything was left after that. Official records do show that in 32,621 TYA there had been a lot of turmoil within the Duunas population and many records stops around that time. It is not clear what happened after that, the only thing that is known is the fact that the Duunas civilization ended only a few years later and the latest known activity is listed at 32,643 TYA. The different labs of Dr. Berg host several dangers and curiosities.
