Aether Dreadnought
Power Generation
The dreadnought's heart is its Ferrixite-Aether Reactor, known as the Lumen Core.
- It harnesses refined Ferrixite Ore, fused with trace magickal Ferrixite under sigil compression.
- The process converts Aetheric resonance into raw kinetic and levitational energy, fueling both propulsion and weapons systems.
- The core is contained within triple-warded sigil rings, preventing catastrophic overcharge.
When operating at peak capacity, the Lumen core emits a soft azure glow visible through the ship's venting fins, earning the poetic name "The Halo of Dominion."
Propulsion
Driven by Aetheric Turbine Arrays, enormous brass and steel propulsors rotating through suspended magnetic fields.
- These are supported by levitation runes that create an anti-gravitational "wake."
- Directional thrust is managed through adjustable fins and flow valves.
- During full magickal output, faint luminescent trails arc off the hull like wings of blue lightning.
Weapons & Armament
Four Aetheric Lance Cannons – devastating beams of condensed Aetheric energy.
Twelve Rotary Flak Batteries – for aerial defense.
Twin Broadside Rail Emitters – fire compressed Ferrixite slugs capable of piercing other dreadnought hulls.
Runic Bomb Bays – deploys “Skyfire Charges,” explosive runes that detonate with both heat and magickal interference.
Some captains integrate spell-weavers into combat, allowing the dreadnought to cast Arcane Barrage during intense engagements.
Armor and defense
Layered Ferrixite Plating with magickal infusion for Aetheric resistance.
Spectral Shroud Generator – temporary invisibility field, often used for ambushes or evasion.
Anti-Fog Resonance Barrier – protects against the corruptive effects of the Black Fog for limited durations.
Emergency Glyph Array – self-repair enchantments powered by siphoned Aether from the Lumen Core.
Communication Tools & Systems
Aetheric Resonance Transmitter (ART) – long-range encrypted communication via ley-line frequency.
Signal Lights & Magelight Codes – for silent coordination in low-visibility combat.
Sonic Horn Array – amplifies low-frequency orders across battlefields or through storm fronts.
Sensors
Aetheric Proximity Sensors – detect nearby vessels and ley-line disruptions.
Spectral Scanners – pinpoint hidden enemies, even in dense fog or magical interference.
Harmonic Disruptor Array – measures distortions in atmospheric Aether to predict incoming attacks.
Additional & auxiliary systems
Escape Pods: 12, each capable of holding 10 personnel.
Automated Repair Drones: Small, spider-like automatons that patch hull breaches mid-flight.
Medical Bay: Equipped with alchemical stabilizers and Aetheric treatment pods.
Archivum: Onboard data archive containing navigational records, battle logs, and spiritual registries.
Hangars & docked vessels
4 Argent Hawks – recon craft built for swift pursuit, escort, or message relay.
2 Aether Barges – heavy transport vessels for cargo transfer or emergency evacuation.
Docking clamps allow visiting craft from allied factions to attach to the lower belly port under the War Deck.
Burst Speed: 70 knots using full Aetheric discharge
Aether Furnace Core: heart of the ship, containing the stabilized Ferrixite-Aether reactor.
Engine Room: massive turbine chamber lined with sigil conduits and pressure vents.
Crew Quarters: split between Officer Decks (polished oak and brass) and lower-ranked bunks (iron walls and exposed pipes).
Hangar Bay: capable of holding 4 Argent Hawks, short-range recon craft.
War Deck: gunnery arrays and arcane stabilizers aligned for battle readiness.
Observation Dome: reserved for Archons and dignitaries, featuring magickal scrying instruments.
