Prime Provost

While there are no official qualifications for a Prime Provost, former holders of the title were usually highly experienced in the study and practice of Masonry, Carpentry, Surveying and the like.

The Prime Provost is appointed directly by the Exalt, usually upon the ascension of a new Exalt. Young or inexperienced Exalts often elect to retain the previous Prime Provost upon their ascension.

The Prime Provost is in charge of the following facets of Elondian administration:

• Territory Definition. In the event of territorial assignment or a border dispute, it is the responsibility of the Prime Provost to define ownership of land with some legal or logical backing.
• Capitol Infrastructure. The Prime Provost is charged with maintaining and expanding the city of Featherfall, which includes the approval of new construction and restoration projects.
• Guild Relations. In tandem with the Chamberlain, the Prime Provost is responsible for maintaining the High Court's relationship with relevant artisanal guilds and conscripting their members for work when necessary.
• Educational and Administrative Faculty. When needed, the Prime Provost serves as an educational chief to lower divisions of the Featherfall government. The Prime Provost defines the how and why of official positions.

A Prime Provost can be stripped of their title by the Exalt at any time. There are even instances of a Prime Provost being stripped of their title without a replacement; in cases such as these, the Exalt handles their responsibilities directly.
