Goblin

The term goblin can either be used to describe a family of humanoid creatures, or a specific type of humanoid creature belonging to that family. Goblins have lived on, and beneath, the surface of Omeath for millenia. When people say goblin, they often think of the short green men with pointed hats in fairy tale and fable. Sharpened claws and yellow teeth gnash on naughty children and household pets. In reality, they are a wildly diverse species depending on where they can be found. This species can be found in nearly every enviroment on Omeath, able to adapt to their surroundings and thrive off the land. Some are covered in a thin layer of fur, some have thick scaley patches of hard skin, and some have brightly colored patterned skin.

With their long history, they have seen the rise and fall of numerous civilizations. Even fostered some of their own with the an empire that lasted for centuries. What lasted for centuries fractured to outside invasions and fierce infighting. Now, most goblins live in tribes scattered around the world. Others survive in cities and towns working among the other mortal folk who hold them with suspicion.

There are other species of goblinoids who fall into the same family as the short folk. A species of large and muscular goblins taller than most humans. Covered in a layer of thick fur with tufted ears. The Bugbear is a fearsome foe to face in combat and often serve as brutes, tanks, or warriors in goblin warbands.

Around the same height as your average human. A species of goblinoid with vibrant, warm toned skin. The Hobgoblins are the most intellectually gifted and articulate. They are often seen at the head of a group of goblins, acting as a leader or sergeant bringing order to their unit. Large, blunt noses on their faces and thick facial hair that is often styled wonderfully.

Their mouth is lined with sharpened teeth and their bone structure is often very angular with poined chins and high cheekbones. These traits are shared between the different goblinoid species, from Wild Goblins to Dune Goblins, and Urban Goblins to Bugbears.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Goblins and their related species can be found all around the face of the world. They have spread far and wide settling wherever they can make out a living. Tribes of fisher goblins live along coasts, trading with nearby towns or attacking passing vessels. Deep woodlands house the Wild Goblins who can travel among the trees and are excellent trackers. Even in the high arctic some groups of goblins have survived in the snow and ice with skin as pale as paper and naturally polarized eyes and eyelids that can keep them from going snowblind.

Goblins can be found in all sorts of enviroments across multiple continents.
