Tayzem Campaign
The Tayzem Campaign was a 4 year long campaign conducted by the kingdom of Lotao and its king Olgliva, who sought to unite the 6 tribes of the Tayzem Region- Lotao, Nekara, Oragona, Sellmoor, Pinoth, and Zolaus- into one kingdom called Blivon. It lasted from 22891-22888 AYM.
As the population grew, the farmers could only grow so much food using so little and low-quality soil, but Lotao, whose farms were still at full power, was able to manage it. Seeing this, tensions quickly rose again, and King Diaphon reacted in 22982 AYM by shipping food towards the other nations. However, this plan swiftly failed due to ambushes and robberies by local bandits and gangs, and the other nations grew even angrier at Lotao for their supposed broken promise. All this stress caused King Diaphon to station troops along the border, just in case the other countries were to use military action against them.
Now, Haglyor's forces were arranged in four lines, each stretching for kilometers on end. Olgliva, seeing this, charged with his armies into a specific point in the line, about several hundred meters west of where Haglyor himself was standing. The line was fractured instantly, and after running the line through, Olgliva turned back around and charged into the line again, this time right towards Haglyor. From there Olgliva struck the line again and again, turning back around after each hit. When Olgliva was satisfied, all of the Raugian troops on the battlefield were slain or gravely injured. Haglyor himself was killed, and his twin brother Hyagor was also slain.
The conflict was a short yet cataclysmic skirmish; Olgliva's forces pummeled through the thin line of troops, making a beeline for the capitol building. The rest of the Raugrian troops were encircled and killed. Kileonor was killed in the fight. Nubuvl and Tyvelo escaped through a hole in the wall of the capitol and fled; Nubuvl reached the tribe of Zolaus, who did not receive word of Olgliva's actions. The tribe, who lacked an official army or militia, planned to peacefully surrender to Olgliva's forces. Tyvelo reached the southeastern tribe of Sellmoor, who were in roughly the same position as Zolaus.
Background
As the northwesternmost tribe in the Tayzem Region, Lotao held a particularly advantageous position geographically, as Lake Merios, the largest lake on the planet, was owned by Lotao. This Lake was known for its ability to replenish nutrients via an underwater system of naturally-generated tunnels. As such, the farms of the other countries were extremely prone to nutrient deficiency, but the Lake's constant replenishment meant that harvests were always bountiful in Lotao. Ever since the Treaty of Tayzem in 4 Ulta-Eimarae, 24963 AYM, which officially created the borders between the 6 states, resentment towards Lotao was always prevalent. The kings of Lotao were aware of this, but they decided not to handle it, hoping that it would fizzle out on its own. However, a series of harsh droughts lasting from 23010-22977 AYM did nothing but heighten the tensions between the nations. This period of famine did recede in 22976 AYM, but the land was permanently scarred from this, and never again did it yield as much harvest as it did before the droughts.
Conflict
Nekarian Invasion and the Battle at Vannae
In 20 Heta-Eimarae, 22892 AYM, King Diaphon died, and Lotao went into mourning for 5 days as per Lotaoian law. Laerin, king of Nekara, Lotao's neighbor to the east, took the opportunity to launch a surprise attack on Lotao, crashing through the border and raiding the border cities of Surhin and Syvan, as well as several minor towns further in. After reaching the Merios Lake, Laerin and his army moved south to attack the capital city, Xievre. The new king, Olgliva, hastily went out to battle at the city of Vannae, about 560 kilometers north of Xievre, and pushed back the Nekarians, but not before over 2700 Lotaoian citizens and soldiers were killed. Enraged by this, Olgliva began planning a grand invasion of Nekara.Gauharn Invasion
However, in 12 Anta-Eimarae, 22899 AYM, Pinoth, Lotao's southern neighbor, launched an additional attack, destroying the cities of Gauharn and Halmot. Olgliva sent his second in command, Foirenin, to push back the Pinothian forces, and he squeezed them out of Lotao before returning back to Olgliva's side. In response to this attack, Olgliva largened his plans to include not just Nekara, but the whole of the Tayzem Region.Invasion of Nekara and battle at Senuim
Finally in 22891 AYM, the plan was finalized and the troops were mobilized, and Olgliva began stationing the bulk of his army, about 35,000 men, just south of the eastern border, hidden by the Arbin Mountains, while a smaller force, led by Ashrael and numbering 2,000, was stationed south to curb any potential attacks from Pinoth. 10 days later, Olgliva attacked, tearing through the country in a straight line. Within 2 days he reached Senuim, Nekara's capital city, where Pidlous, Laerin's successor, had hastily organized an army of troops numbering 20,000. Both sides fought fiercely, with casualties in the tens of thousands. After 10 hours of constant fighting, and with the city thoroughly destroyed and burned, Pidlous voluntarily surrendered his forces to Olgliva, causing much dissent among his troops. With his army now 1/4 of its original size, Olgliva decided to have the Nekarians fight alongside him for the rest of the campaign, which Pidlous agreed to. He mustered his beaten-down army, which now numbered about 6,450.Oragona Theatre
With Nekara under Lotao's control, Olgliva turned towards Oragona, who was to the south. To do so, he had his forces sail downstream through the Arbin River and upstream through the Moriv River, emerging just west of the Oragona border, while Pidlous' forces were to sail down the Pero River and into the Erithorn Ocean, where they could assault from the east. However, Pidlous was assassinated on the way, and Arforus, Pidlous' second in command, swiftly assumed leadership after killing the perpetrators.Battles of Renig and Wagno
To quicken his plan, Olgliva had his army split up into thirds, with two of them marching towards Renig, a major city directly to the east, while the third was to capture Wagno, a minor town located southeast of the army. Olgliva himself would be leading the assault at Renig, while his third-in-command, Lenhosk, stormed Wagno. In Renig was a small force of 2,000, which Olgliva easily beat, while Wagno was vastly unguarded. Both cities fell within a week, and Olgliva and Lenhosk rendezvoused in the outskirts of Wagno.First Battle of Marian
Meanwhile, Arforus' forces beached on the shores near the coastal city of Marian, and were immediately confronted by Oragonian forces led by Hyagor, alerted by the earlier Battles of Renig and Wagno. With reinforcements arriving quickly, Hyagor's troops immediately drove the Nekarian forces back to the sea. Arforus and his allies quickly recuperated and planned their next course of action in the Carmin Bay. The Nekarian casualties numbered 207.Battle of Verol
After a week, Arforus' forces touched down near the minor town of Verol, which was taken within 2 days. Oragonian forces were immediately sent towards the city; a force of 2,000 Ibrovinids was on its way from Marian, and a backup force of 3,000 was sent from Arim, the capital. Arforus had his troops surround the town in preparation for an attack. A day later, the 2,000 Oragonian troops reached Verol, and fierce clashes began. After 2 hours of stalemate, Arforus ordered a central charge, which split the Oragonian line in two. However, just as the Nekarian force were about to surround and kill the remaining troops, the backup force arrived, and Arforus was forced to order a retreat. The Oragonians suffered 1,738 casualties while the Nekarians lost 2,032 men.Ambush at Wagno
While Arforus was fighting along the east coast, Olgliva and his Lotaoian troops were recuperating in the captured city of Wagno. Unbeknownst to Olgliva, a small group of Oragonian troops lay just outside the camp in ambush, and as he mustered his troops, the Oragonian troops rushed into the city and attacked; the Lotaoian troops, many of whom had not donned their armor, were taken aback, and about 600 soldiers died in the onslaught, while many of the perpetrators were able to escape unscathed into the nearby town Ugani.Battle of Ugani
Frustrated, Olgliva marched his army to the city, where they were met with a large 10,000 strong Oragonian force led by Haglyor, Hyagor's twin brother. After a failed charge, which cost him 150 troops, Olgliva moved his army south of Ugani, to the city of Almar, while the Oragonian force followed parallel to them. However, an additional force of 5,000 was also present in Almar, and they conjoined with the Ugani force and pushed the Lotaoian force west, into Pinoth territory, where a 4,000 strong Pinoth brigade was waiting. Squished between two forces, Olgliva and his men suffered catastrophic numbers of casualties, and the general himself was gravely injured. Lenhosk ordered a retreat north, with the Pinoth and Oragonian forces giving chase. Overall, both the Pinoth and Oragonian forces suffered about 250 casualties each, while the Lotaoian force suffered 6,000 casualties. Olgliva and his men sailed down the Moriv and Arbin Rivers and into the Erithorn Ocean, recuperating with an exhausted and injured Nekarian army. Haglyor became a celebrity after the battle, and swiftly moved up the ranks, placing him in control of all forces in Ugani, Almar, and Marian, which included his twin brother's troops.Second Battle of Marian
The combined forces, which numbered about 6,350, needed to score a major victory in order to raise morale, and the city of Marian's importance as a valuable trading port seemed promising. So, in the early months of 22890 AYM, Olgliva's troops stormed the city. Even though the city's troops numbered 10,000, the sheer ferocity of the invaders caught them off guard, and Hyagor ordered a retreat as Olgliva took the city. Olgliva's casualties numbered about 200, while the Oragonians lost 2,937 troops. Hyagor himself fled to Almar, where Haglyor was staying, and informed him of the news. Upon hearing this, the 15,000 strong Oragonian troops marched to Marian, and Haglyor ordered a full-scale assault on Olgliva's troops, who were pushed back to the shoreline. Olgliva knew this would happen, however, and had ordered a retreat beforehand, leading to only 13 casualties. This battle was the last of Olgliva's attempts to conquer Oragona.First Battle of Gauharn
In 13 Nota-Eimarae, 22890 AYM, upon hearing the news of the action near the border, Nubuvl, the king of Pinoth, ordered an invasion north, to help curb the military actions of Lotao. A force 5,000 strong clashed fiercely with Ashrael's men, pushing north all the way up to Gauharn. Ashrael himself attempted to stall, knowing that Olgliva would be sailing up the Arbin River, but his men were nonetheless forced to retreat. Both sides suffered about 1,500 casualties.Second Battle of Gauharn
Following this, Olgliva, like Arforus had previously done, sailed north, yet instead of aiming for Verol, he set his sights on Arim, the capital. Haglyor, however, was suspicious of Olgliva's movements, and ordered a march north along the coast. However, knowing that he had a depleted and injured army, he instead sailed all the way up to Lotao, where Ashrael was waiting for him. In 17 Nota-Eimarae, 22890 AYM, they joined forces and pushed the Pinothian army back, suffering minimal casualties along the way. Nubuvl's forces, however, suffered an additional 1,210 casualties. Olgliva also gained an additional 10,000 men from Nekara and Lotao, increasing his army to around 16,000.Pact of Kanis
The pact of Kanis was an agreement signed in 20 Nota-Eimarae, 22890 AYM, between the kingdoms of Oragona and Pinoth to counter Olgliva's invasions, and from then on, both Nubuvl and the Oragonian king Tyvelo would jointly rule the country of Raugoth, which was created when Pinoth and Oragona merged into one nation. As part of the pact, the capital of the joint nation was now situated at Kanis.Battle of Jauuvain
Jauuvain was a Raugian city about 60 kilometers south of the border between Lotao and Pinoth. When Olgliva's forces recuperated after beating back the Pinothian invasion, they continued south into Raugian territory, destroying cities and towns along the way. When they approached the city of Jauuvain, a large force, around 20,000 strong, was there to greet them, led by Haglyor himself. Upon seeing this, Olgliva ordered a small unit, around 2,500 strong and led by Lenhosk, to sail down the Arbin and Moriv Rivers to launch a second assault south. However, he gave this order within eyesight of the enemy, and as Olgliva's troops began marching northeast, Haglyor immediately sent a 5,000 strong force led by Kileonor to guard the entrance to the Moriv River and the eastern coast of the country.
Fall of Kanis
Meanwhile, Lenhosk's forces had paddled up the Moriv River and come face to face with Kileonor, who promptly attacked. Lenhosk immediately retreated down the Moriv River and instead sailed out into the Erithorn Ocean, while Kileonor, alerted by a messenger about the Battle at Jauuvain, returned back to Kanis. From there the kings ordered a hasty defense of the capital, and the 5,000 troops led by Kileonor as well as several volunteer militias totalling 2,000 gathered outside the capital just as Olgliva's forces came within 100 kilometers of the city.
