Merios Civil War
The Merios Civil War was a conflict that took place in the Merios Towns between the Merios-Hiemarbhudra and the Merios-Arbhudra. It lasted from 24976 to 24968 AYM, and is known as the first major conflict in the history of Lotao and the Tayzem Region.
The Merios-Arbhudra's HQ was located right in the center of Vannae. The Merios-Hiemarbhudra's HQ was located near the west edge of the city, disguised as a normal settlement.
Later that year, the Merios-Arbhudra began to set up secondary organizations in other towns as well as setting up a strict border patrol system between each town. These two operations were kept in total secrecy and so the Merios-Hiemarbhudra did not conduct any notable actions until after this patrol was started. However, throughout all occupied cities, resistances sprung up.
Finally, at this time, the patrol troops arrived on the scene, and they immediately charged into the HQ. Those in the bunker, hearing the commotion, also charged at Murhane's troops. Surrounded, the men sustained massive casualties, and Murhane himself lost a leg. After around 3 minutes, the Hiemarbhudrians changed tactics and instead charged towards the exit, pushing against the patrol troops and in many cases crushing them against the walls. The stampede towards the exit killed another 10 men. In all, the Hiemarbhudrians lost 143 men and the Arbhudrians 62 men in the second half. This battle is notable as the first major battle in the Merios Civil War and consequently the whole of Lotao's history.
Prelude
The Merios-Arbhudra was created in Heta-Eimarae, 24976 AYM (The exact day is not known) by Ivaegoss as the official police force of the Merios Towns. The members of this organization were made of volunteers from the Towns. The majority of these volunteers, however, soon steered the organization away from its original purpose and instead began to consolidate power for themselves and later to take over the entirety of the Merios Towns. By creating propaganda directed at power-hungry civilians, the members grew drastically. Their leader was Onumenk. Murhane, the official Merios-Zumduate, formed the Merios-Hiemarbhudra to combat this. In 5 Nota-Eimarae, 24976 AYM, the Merios-Arbhudra formally deposed Murhane and became the new Merios-Zumduate; however, the Merios-Hiemarbhudra never recognized it and instead made Murhane their own leader, creating a new role that was also called the Merios-Zumduate.The Merios-Arbhudra's HQ was located right in the center of Vannae. The Merios-Hiemarbhudra's HQ was located near the west edge of the city, disguised as a normal settlement.

Conflict
Skirmish at Vannae Outskirts
The first conflicts took place in the outskirts of Vannae in 1 Yota-Eimarae, 24976 AYM. A small group, numbering around 7 members, was sent by the Merios-Hiemarbhudra in order to search for other resistance organizations. Upon reaching the patrol, they were sent away. However, one of the members, called Saphunten, attacked the patrol upon their refusal, causing alarms to go off all across the Merios-Arbhudra. After 10 minutes, the 3 members of the patrol were all killed. Upon hearing this, the number of Merios-Arbhudrians on each patrol was increased from 3 to 9, and reinforcements were sent to the killed Vannae patrol. None of the Merios-Hiemarbhudrians were killed, and all of them fled back into their HQ before the reinforcements could arrive.Merios Uprisings
Following the Skirmish, news of the attack spread quickly. As it traveled, other resistance groups in separate towns also began to riot. This included the widespread damaging of buildings and property sympathetic to the Merios-Arbhudrians and the kidnapping and torturing of any suspected Merios-Arbhudrians. The Merios-Arbhudrians formed a separate militia in 24 Anta-Eimarae, 24975 AYM. This lasted all the way through Ulta-Eimarae, 24975 AYM, with the majority of the chaos concentrated in Vannae and the southern city of Rechalt. Many of these revolts were finally put down via military force. Onumenk was also heavily wounded and later died of his injuries. He was succeeded by his second in command, Zingath.First Battle of Vannae
The First Battle of Vannae was an attempt by Murhane, the leader of the Merios-Hiemarbhudra and the Merios-Zumduate, to capture the Merios-Arbhudrian base in the center of Vannae. In the early mornings of 3 Heta-Eimarae, 24974 AYM, a large force of around 170 Merios-Hiemarbhudrians charged at the Merios-Arbhudrian HQ. Panicked, the Merios-Arbhudrians gathered the patrol groups from the outskirts of Vannae, who measured 54 in total, and also organized a large central force of 130 troops. Because the city was so large, the patrols were delayed in their arrival and the two main forces battled alone for the first 15 minutes. In the ensuing conflict, Murhane's men pushed them all the way to the steps of the HQ, and all but 20 of the Arbhudrians were killed, and those that were still alive were bunkered down inside the HQ, which was being raided by the Hiemarbhudrians. In this first stage of the battle only around 37-38 Hiemarbhudrians died.
Ceasefire of Jarvhol-Huntalog
The Ceasefire of Jarvhol-Huntalog was a short-term ceasefire that was in effect from 5 Heta-Eimarae, 24974 AYM to 23 Ulta-Eimarae of that same year. This Ceasefire was proposed by Jarvhol, a Hiemarbhudrian, and Huntalog, an Arbhudrian, on the street between the two HQs and from then on both sides refrained from violence against other. However, the main reason for this ceasefire was to unite, or at the very least establish communications with, resistance groups in different towns. Merios-Arbhudra took the time to reinstate and bolster patrol groups, and the Merios-Hiemarbhudra immediately sent groups to Rechalt before the patrol stations could be refilled, relaying messages to the resistance groups there.Insoltus Revolt
The Insoltus Revolt occurred on 23 Ulta-Eimarae, 24974 AYM. It is named after Murhane's second in command Insoltus, who planned and instigated the revolts simultaneously in Vannae and Rechalt. This plan was introduced via the convoy that entered Rechalt while the Ceasefire was active, and the date was preset to be on 23 Ulta-Eimarae. On that date, Hiemarbhudrians from both towns began an uprising, and they, just like the earlier Merios Uprisings, caused massive destruction throughout the towns. The Arbhudrians were forced to move forces stationed in Ainsug and Nelir to the towns to quell the rebellion. They left a small puppet government in each of the two cities as they left. One the troops arrived there, they began to heavily suppress the resistance, leading to 43 casualties. In both cities they also created an extremely strict police force and instated a curfew.Korrhak Uprising and the Rise of Usklorny
The Korrhak Uprising took place in Nelir and Ainsug, in which resistance members caught wind of the transfer of Arbhudrian forces before it actually happened. Within 2 days of their departure, the resistance groups ransacked the government buildings there, killing all members of the puppet governments. In their place they introduced resistance governments, and joined the cities together to form the province of Usklorny, which was formally included into Lotao on 27 Ulta-Eimarae. After their formation they immediately made plans to attack the Arbhudrians while they were still dealing with the Insoltus Revolt.Battle of Vannae Outskirts
The Battle of Vannae Outskirts was a large-scale battle between a conjoined coalition of Usklornians and Hiemarbhudrians and the Arbhudrians. The Usklornians had sent a 450 strong group to Vannae, and they, along with the Hiemarbhudrians, had cornered the Arbhudrians there in the city. Zingath, who led the Arbhudrians there, immediately went out to battle, and the two sides met just north of the city limits. Upon seeing the forces moving elsewhere, the Hiemarbhudrians gathered again and began moving towards the battlefield. Sandwiched between the Usklornians and the Hiemarbhudrians, the Arbhudrians suffered losses amounting to around 200-210, around 80% of the troops in the fight. However, the bulk of the Arbhudrians were stationed at Rechalt, and so their total army size was only reduced by 20%. The conjoined forces only lost around 106.Second Battle of Vannae
The Second Battle of Vannae occurred in 1 Suta-Eimarae. Troops numbering around 430 were sent to Vannae from Rechalt in order to retake and suppress the commotion there. 680 men remained in Rechalt to prevent any successive uprisings. In the center of the city, the Arbhudrians came across the combined forces, who numbered around 310. The two sides engaged in vicious close combat in the narrow streets of the city, resulting in an exceptionally high amount of casualties. Overall, the Arbhudrians lost 55 men while the Hiemarbhudrians lost close to 200, with the rest being driven eastward out of the city.Battle of Nelir
The Battle of Nelir took place just south of Nelir in 4 Suta-Eimarae and was between Usklornian reserve forces (numbering around 490 men) and the Arbhudrian army, which numbered 375 men. As the armies approached each other, however, the Arbhudrians began a charge, surprising the Usklornians. Their army was split in two and cornered, and almost every single troop was killed in the onslaught. The Arbhudrians, however, just suffered 106 recorded casualties.Treaty of Nelir
The Treaty of Nelir was a forced agreement signed in 7 Suta-Eimarae, 24974 AYM, between Merios-Arbhudra and Usklorny, where the leaders of Usklorny were to be sentenced to death and the province was to be returned back to Arbhudrian control. The leaders were executed en masse on 11 Suta-Eimarae. This was followed by around 3 years of relative peace between the two sides; the Hiemarbhudrians were too few in number to defeat the Arbhudrians, and they spent their time operating underground resistance groups, which were mostly concentrated in Vannae and Rechalt. Over these three years the resistance population more than doubled, from 260 to 580.Kiulamm sent to Vannae
In 12 Nota-Eimarae, 24971 AYM, Kiulamm, Murhane and Ivaegoss's brother, was sent by Ivaegoss to Vannae, in order to help the Hiemarbhudrian cause there. Along with him he sent 500 volunteers from Gauharn and Xievre.Third Battle of Vannae
The Third Battle of Vannae was fought in the early mornings of 13 Nota-Eimarae. The group sent by Ivaegoss came across a small patrol army, numbering about 130, in the southern city limits. Although Kiulamm's army trounced them with minimal casualties, the Arbhudrians now knew of their presence, and they began to concentrate all of their forces towards the city.Split of the Hiemarbhudrians
The long history of discontent between Kiulamm and Murhane, which started as early as 24988 AYM, caused the Hiemarbhudrian army to split into two separate groups, both of whom did not cooperate with one another. Each one had roughly 400 men, while the Arbhudrian army was approaching with 1000.Twin Battles of Vannae
The Twin Battles of Vannae, also known as the Fourth Battle of Vannae, was fought between the two halves of the Hiemarbhudra and the Arbhudrian army. Kiulamm's forces were situated east of Murhane's, and both were inside the city. The Arbhudrians engaged them separately in order to keep them from reuniting. (The Arbhudrians believed that Kiulamm and Murhane had created a united army and that their separation was merely a coincidence.) Both halves were forced to flee, and 202 and 198 men were killed in Murhane and Kiulamm's armies respectively.Rechalt Expedition
The Rechalt Expedition was a secretive searching of Rechalt by Murhane's forces to search for any remaining resistance members and groups. In all, they found about 200 men that were operating hidden resistance groups, and they joined Murhane's army, raising the number to around 400.Battle of Rechalt
The Battle of Rechalt happened in 2 Yota-Eimarae, just as Murhane's forces were exiting Rechalt. They were sighted and attacked by a 300-strong Arbhudrian force. This force was most likely one of those sent to Vannae for the Twin Battles of Vannae, and so their weariness caused them to succumb to Murhane's forces with only 25-30 Casualties. After this battle, Murhane gained total control of Rechalt and stayed there for 3 years, resisting attacks by the Arbhudrians. Kiulamm's forces were hidden in underground resistance centers in Vannae. In 24968 AYM, he planned on returning back to Vannae in order to retke that city as well.Ambush and Death of Murhane
The Arbhudrians had learned of Murhane plans beforehand via spies, and as Murhane approached them, Zingath had his forces hide inside and between buildings, and commanded each of them to take Murhane alive as a prisoner of war. When Murhane came, the Arbhudrians pounced on his forces. In the ensuing chaos, Murhane was killed, and his second-in-command and son Karutsid succeeded him during that fight. After Murhane's death, the Arbhudrians, realizing this, fled immediately, and Zingath and other Arbhudrian leaders subsequently committed suicide.Merios Campaign
The Merios Campaign was the final stage of the Merios Civil War. This military campaign was led by Ivaegoss, king of Lotao, in response to the death of Murhane. He deposed Kiulamm and joined the two armies back together. With around 600 additionnal volunteers, he took Vannae, Nelir, Ipasit, Ainsug, and finally Rechalt, essentially demolishing any surviving remnants of the Merios-Arbhudra.
