Ýlafe

The Ýlafe is the term for one month. It is one of several terms that describes a period of 27 days, or Ïzamúte, on the planet Ólïvarneð. In contrast to the more-commonly-used term Eimarae, which is reserved for dates and ubiquitous throughout this database, the term Ýlafe refers to the timeframe for use in durations and other non-date-specific applications. Rather than using this term in its original language, it is usually translated as 'month' in this database.

One Ýlafe is defined as being the duration in which a planet rotates 180 degrees, thus alternating from Ïdavý (daytime) to Ðúvý (nighttime) in a given region. The delineations between one Ýlafe and the next are set to be when daytime transitions to nighttime, such that, in one given year (which has 8 months), there are four months of daytime and four months of nighttime, both of which alternate one after another. It is only one of two timeframes that relies specifically on the motion of the planet and is mostly independent of that of the moons Ëmar and Úlim.
