Ŋökmahat Campaigns
The Ŋökmahat Campaigns were a series of small-scale offensives and attacks during the Second Phase of the First Varhoŋïan War of 24976 AYM. Carried out by the Coalition-aligned Lómóhüdian Expedition, led by Šðýï-Ŋökmahat, against the Army of the Maðúšýï Tribe, the Campaigns lasted from 16 Suta-Eimarae to 5 Geta-Eimarae and culminated in the indecisive Battle of Ŋökmahat. In contrast to most other military campaigns, the primary goal of the Ŋökmahat Campaigns was not to achieve a certain material gain, but to coordinate the plans of the Expedition with those of the allied army in the city of Vërðïm, led by Ölh-Ïýëk, as the combined strength of the armies was the only such way one had a chance of besting the Maðúšýïans. These campaigns contain the majority of the actions carried out by the Lómóhüdian Expedition, whose relentless courage in the face of their enemy elevated them to legendary status and a patriotic symbol of Lómóhüd itself. Similarly, the Battle of Ŋökmahat and the many events leading up to it are seen as some of the Coalition's brightest and most glorious moments, which would serve as a basis for further alliances and pacts, leading up to the eventual creation of the tribe of Sangus.
Background
The Ŋökmahat Campaigns occurred after the First Phase of the War, which was marked by numerous Maðúšýïan victories against the combined Coalition forces. Pushing them back northeast from Ožërhýŋ to the Hýyo-Wýðúr, the scattered and retreating Coaliton armies took refuge in their cities of Vërðïm, Lómóhüd, and Kal-Haðü, and the Maðúšýïans subsequently set up their army in several lines between these cities. Úvremk, the leader of the Maðúšýïans, would use this siege position to pursue the end goal of his newly-evolved Tžý-Úvremk, which relied upon the deliberate separation of these cities, the absolute severance of any and all communication between them, and the suppressing of resistance movements. The time period during which the Maðúšýïans operated under this siege position is known as the Second Phase of the War.
It would be around this time that the Lómóhüdian Expedition was created. Initially led by Žïkr-Kha on 2 Suta-Eimarae, the Expedition would see the bulk of its action under the leadership of Šðýï-Ŋökmahat, for whom the Campaigns and the Battle itself are named. This Expedition was only an Expedition in name; in reality, it was a guerilla force that relied on espionage, sabotage, and evasion tactics to disorganize, weaken, and demoralize the Maðúšýïans. However, it had been harboring intent to link forces with other cities, as it knew that the mere small-scale assaults by themselves would not amount to anything if done in isolation.
