Love of The Earth

The Love of the Earth is a cult based on Dwarven traditions, to live in accordance with the Dragon Mother the Matriarch. They believe the Dwarves live within her slumbering body, and preach harmony within her bosom, using only what they need. While the Druidic Cult is peaceful, a schism within the ranks caused the formation of two other factions, The Chroma Collection of the Mother, and the Metallic Movement.

Structure

The Love of the Earth is headed by The Speaker of the Mother, who is to translate the slumbering will of the Matriarch to the others. As the Love of the Earth is a small cult, especially after the schism, this is the only authority figure.

Culture

The Love of the Earth view the world happily, as something they have the privilege to protect. They have a small amount of influence in Dwarven governmental affairs, and use this to protect beautiful areas of the world, adding to the culture of Dwarven lands, and to tourism.

Public Agenda

To protect the land from undue harm, and keep the cycle of rebirth functioning.

Assets

The Love of the Earth has small political influence, and the man power of a large village.

History

The Love of the Earth was founded soon after the Dwarves moved into the Red Mountains, guiding the Dwarves to live in harmony with their surroundings.

Mythology & Lore

The L.O.T.E. believe that The Dragon Mother was a great and powerful Dragonoid that birthed the Draconian races alongside her lover Cosmos, the Dragon of Infinity. Their belief was that one day The Matriarch would return from her slumber of millennia, and bring forth a Golden Age for Dragonoids. However, things have changed within the ranks of L.O.T.E., and all may not be as it seems.

Divine Origins

This religion began in the earliest years of the Post-Prima Centorum, after the Dragons were overthrown and hunted. The Dwarves wished to live in harmony with the land, believing it to be the slumbering corpse of the Dragon Queen caused them to react in fear and reverence, and they moved with caution.

Cosmological Views

The Love of The Earth believe The Mother of Dragonkin sleeps as The Red Mountain, dormant after the painful yet satisfying birth of Dragonkind. She was born in The Maker's first flash on creation, the same as her Lover Cosmos. After finding each other, they fell in love, and together formed Draconian people in their likeness. However, the exhausting process tired Her, and she sleeps to this day. Cosmos is said to watch their people in her stead, and stand guard at her resting place. It is believed that The First Dwarves made a deal with Cosmos, offering to protect Her in exchange for the minerals that made up the parts of the mountain that weren't Her.

Tenets of Faith

The Mountains must always be protected.   The Father watches over the Mother, we are his servants.   The dwarves pay their dues to the Father, show them gratitude.   Use the Mother's bounty sparingly.

Ethics

The Love of the Earth are not to destroy nature for any reason besides survival, and they must move heaven and earth to protect the Earth at all costs. They live their lives in service to the earth, and anything that would harm the earth is s sin in their eyes.

Worship

The Love of the Earth participate in daily ritual prayers to an idol of Cosmo wrought from stone, twice a day at sunrise and sunset. At noon, they pray where they stand, regardless of where it is, as long as they are standing on stone.

Priesthood

Those wishing to join the Love of the Earth must infuse their senses with the sent of dragonscales burnt by intense heat. This scent is said to put even the heartiest of warriors to slumber. Those that are contacted by Cosmo, and can reliably relay what they saw in their heady dreams are brought into the fold.

Granted Divine Powers

The Speaker of the Mother is often granted a semblance of Dreamweaving, the ability to alter and control dreams.

Political Influence & Intrigue

The Love of the Earth use their limited political influence to set up havens of nature, to let it flourish. They push to keep certain magnificent areas of the mountains to be preserved.
