Half-Dragons
Half-dragons are distinct from dragonborn in their quadrupedal nature. While the dragonborn walk as Men do, the half-dragons are more direct descendants of dragons and humanoids, and thus walk on four legs, sometimes with wings and sometimes without. Born from the union of humanoids and dragons, half-dragons, often called draconids, have some trouble finding a place in either parent's home. Given the brutality and cruelty of the dragons in their prime, it is not assumed many were born to willing mothers, and so had no home with them when the dragons were deposed by humanity. Similarly, they were seen as lesser by their pure-blooded dragon parents, and were either killed or subjugated similarly.
In this time of freedom from dragons, these draconids find themselves left to the outskirts of even Badlands society. In this age, they are sometimes mistaken for full dragons and are hunted, sometimes unjustly.
Naming Traditions
Family names
Dragons take names from their Draconic parentage primarily, and follow it with an earned honorific.
Ideals
Beauty Ideals
Half-dragons, on the rare occasion of seeking a mate for whatever reason, desire strength and power, much akin to their monstrous ancestors. Horns, wings, and the strength of limb are taken into consideration when a draconid considers a mate.
Gender Ideals
The difference in gender between half-dragons is minimal, both equally able to be strong or lithe, and both feared by common Man. The only real difference lies in parenting, for the female will stay with the young until they are of age to fend for themselves, and the male typically leaves, spending time nearby to assist in protection if needed.
Courtship Ideals
Male and female alike will vie for attention, utilizing feats of strength to attract a mate.
