Magic

Magic can manifest in many ways, but usually requires two components. A Call and an Order. The call brings forth magical energy to the user, and the order directs how it will manifest. A Call without an Order can be dangerous, potentially creating Wild Magic Events. An Order without a Call is simply ineffective.   A Call is simple. Usually, it's brought about verbally or with hand motions, with the specific kind of energy to be called requiring different motions or words. The order is often a further combination of words and material components that allow the caster to direct the energy to manifest in exactly the way they want.   Most magic items are simply conductors, which require a call to power them, but some Artificers have found ways to store magical energy within an object. If this energy is not used up, it will often stew and begin to develop sentience. This has brought up many debates about the potential of magic itself to be a form of life, but regardless of the details, some will store magic within an item with the full intent to let it develop into a companion which can travel and learn with them.
