Robots
Utility
The main use of robots is as manual labor. They are strong, tough, and have no will of their own. Perfect workers. Gryphonfall is full of automated labor, allowing manufacturing to go on nearly all day, barring small amounts of time to charge the bots. It only takes an hour though, much less time than a human has to sleep.
These durable qualities also make them great bodyguards, and specially designed bodies allow them to fulfill this role magnificently. The most famous example of this is AMDU, the robot bodyguard of Mettius Hiritus.
Access & Availability
Robots are widely available, but most are simple automatons with no mind of their own. Research and work has gone into improving them, but a robot with more than basic programming is harder to get.
Complexity
The most basic robot is a ball with stick legs, stick arms and three fingered claws. They have two "eyes" on their front that glow when they are powered, and give them basic perception. This is not to say only these stickbots exist. Many engineers have designed and built their own robots, with more complex tasks requiring more complex bodies.
Their AI is also getting more advanced. Many are unintelligent brutes who follow their programming to the letter, but more advanced robots have shown the ability to act upon the spirit of a command rather than the exact wording. There is work going into making truly intelligent robots but such efforts have been fruitless so far.
