Frostwyrms
Basic Information
Anatomy
Long, worm like beasts who tunnel through frozen ground, Frostwyrms are an added danger to an already harsh environment. They are heavily armored to protect against the dangers of underground life, and this thick chitin also protects against many blows easily. It is not invulnerable though, and if it can be cracked the flesh underneath is soft.
Growth Rate & Stages
Young frostwyrms start off small, only around the size of a Human. They hatch from eggs laid buried in soft ground and have to dig their way out. From there, they spend a couple years growing and avoiding predators. When they're small, frostwyrms are much easier targets for hungry monsters. Once they hit adulthood they're big enough to take on most monsters.
Ecology and Habitats
Frostwyrms, as the name implies, live in cold, arctic biomes. They don't really leave the tundras they live in, and they seem to dislike heat.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Frostwyrms eat meat when they are adults, and prefer it fresh and raw. Young frostwyrms also eat meat, but eat much more plant matter as well, gnawing on roots and tubers when they get the chance.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
To locate things above the ground, Frostwyrms have great hearing, and can sense tremors in the ground. There is a theory that they also have magical senses, but this has not been confirmed or denied.
