Willow Tower

Willow Tower
Willow Tower is a small stone watch-post and agricultural outstation within The Serenity Barony. Originally rebuilt to secure the region during its transition from bandit-ridden hamlet to protected vassal settlement, the tower oversees surrounding farmland and woodland approaches. Although modest in size it has rotating farmer-watchkeepers maintaining a steady lookout while tending nearby fields. Surrounded by neatly cultivated crops and simple work structures, Willow Tower symbolises the settlement’s shift from wilderness threat to ordered, industrious growth, serving as both a practical guard point and a quiet monument to rural resilience.

Architecture

Willow Tower is constructed in a simple rural-defensive style, blending practicality with frontier resourcefulness. The structure is a compact circular stone tower, built with rough-cut fieldstone and reinforced mortar, rising only a modest height above the surrounding farmland. Its walls are thick enough to withstand small-scale assault or weathering, yet it lacks the grandeur or engineered sophistication of noble keeps. A flat timber platform crowns the tower, providing elevated sightlines across the cultivated fields and toward the treeline beyond.   The tower’s base includes a single ground-level entry, built with a heavy wooden door banded in iron. Inside, the ground floor functions as storage space for farm tools, crates, and field supplies, while a narrow ladder grants access to the viewing platform above. A small scattering of workbenches, crates, and simple shelters are arranged around the exterior, forming a modest yard where workers prepare crops and store communal tools.   Surrounding farmland is bordered by low timber fencing set into shallow earthworks, establishing a controlled perimeter and protecting cultivated soil from encroaching brush. While the tower itself is too small to serve as a military outpost in larger conflicts, its construction reflects a focus on early warning, agricultural support, and symbolic presence—standing not as a fortress, but as a statement of order, vigilance, and settlement stability on newly secured land.
