Viper Tree
Viper Trees are a predatory species native to Zurea, Novus.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Not technically plants, Viper Trees are a psuedo-dna based animal, evolved for ambush predation. Usually standing around 6m tall, Viper Trees wait for passing prey, which is struck by a specialized limb with a toxic barbed tip. To feed, the creature bends down and opens its protective "treetop" to reveal its maw. The prey is enveloped and swallowed, where it will be digested over the course of weeks.
Dietary Needs and Habits
A refined ambush predator, Tree Stalks are completely carnivorous, and far from picky when a potential meal wanders too close.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities
The main sensory organs of a Stalk Tree are its photoreceptors and its motion detecting antennae. The photoreceptors are simply vestigial eyes, now only capable of sensing light levels. The antennae however, are highly sensitive to even the slightest changes in air pressure or vibrations.
