Murk Lurker
Aquatic beasts which make their home in warm, swampy regions. Living in shallow bodies of water, Murk Lurkers are the unseen top predators of the green bogs they inhabit, lying in wait below the surface, waiting for prey to fall into their domain. The dark and murky waters are where these beasts get their name, claiming anything that enters their pool as food. Murk Lurkers are medium sized creatures, ranging from 3-5 meters in length, big enough to consume anything else living in their territory. They are coloured a dark greenish black, perfectly camoflauged to their containing swamps, invisible to prey until it is too late to escape.
Basic Information
Anatomy
As Psuedo-Amphibians, Murk Lurkers live a semi-aquatic lifestyle and don't usually stray far from the swamps they inhabit. 5m in length, these creatures are generally found sitting motionless just below the waters surface. Here they lie in wait, nearly invisible amidst their surroundings. When a potential prey item strays into range, the Murk Lurker uses surprising agility to attack
Dietary Needs and Habits
Omnivorous and opportunistic, Murk Lurkers are not the simple beasts their appearance would suggest. While preferring meat, the creatures can survive on alternative foods when prey is scarce. They have been known to forage for certain vegetation, but only after going weeks without a successful hunt.
Behaviour
Relatively cunning animals, Murk Lurkers have a decent capacity for analysis and critical thinking. Displaying great patience while hunting, Lurkers won't attack unless they see an easy victory. Looking for weak points, the hunter will slowly position itself for an optimal strike. Using its modified front appendage like a grapple, the lurker can slash, stab and crush opponents.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Excellent sense of sight with above average intelligence, Murk Lurkers are constantly scanning their surroundings and tend to maintain spatial awareness. Able to spot prey from a great distance, slowly and stealthily moving towards them.
