Deep Leviathan
--DEEP LEVIATHAN--
The Leviathan is a massive beast, at home in the depths of the ocean. Slow moving but unstoppable, the monster devours anything unable to get
away. At 20 meters long, it reigns supreme as apex predator and the 2nd largest ocean dwelling creature, topped only by the Collosos.
(Deep Leviathan used as a game border to prevent travel into the ocean, swimming too far out prompts a warning in the form of a deep underwater howl, accompanied with the water becoming murkier. If the player doesn't retreat to shallower water quickly a leviathan will quickly appear and devour them [intended to be scary like shark in crysis, but also gruesome to prevent players from trying again])

Basic Information
Anatomy
Average length of around 21m, weighs 35000kg. Powerful tail allows lengthy journeys at a steady pace, while a specialized organ behind its head expels water like a jet, providing short speed bursts and maneuverability.
The Deep Leviathan's jet organ also provides the secondary function of helping to consume prey. When water enters the intake, it is pressurized with muscles and can be flushed through the throat instead of expelled from the jet. This creates somewhat of a vacuum effect, sucking food in and preventing escape.
Genetics and Reproduction
Psuedo-DNA is passed down through sexual reproduction, similar to most bioforms native to Visca-2.
Growth Rate & Stages
Long lived and slow to reproduce, as befits their position at the top of the aquatic food chain. Mothers only give birth to a single offspring at a time, which they carefully raise and protect until it has fully matured. As populations are low, juveniles need the extra guarantee of survival. When a juvenile has fully matured, it will separate from its mother so that she may repeat the cycle. This cycle usually repeats three times in the mothers life, from the ages of 10 to 40.
Ecology and Habitats
Usually inhabit the deeper waters of Visca-2, sometimes hunt for swimming land prey around the archipelago.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Carnivorous, opportunistic apex predator of the ocean. Generally hunts larger prey in deep waters but will take swimming terrestrial prey around the archipelago.
Behaviour
Cruises deep waters in search of food, hunts alone due to small population. Capable of brief bursts of speed when near prey.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Lacks sight, excellent smell and hearing. Possesses the ability to echolocate. The Deep Leviathan is able to detect a human sized bioform from several kilometers away through its sense of smell. Anything within two kilometers can be identified in detail using echolocation, and it is within this range that a Deep Leviathan will generally commit to a target. Once pursuit has begun, they only way for the target to escape is to outswim the 2km range or retreat to land if possible.
