The City
Nova Secundus is a city on the eastern seaboard of the United States of America. It is a place with a rich contemporary culture, steeped in history both after and before the so called "New World" was colonized by Europeans. It is a port city with extensive docks facilitating trade and the needs of the US navy. Real world inspirations for Nova Secundus primarily come from Philadelphia and Chicago.Common Knowledge
There are some key things that every citizen of the city knows or have probably heard in passing at some point:- Penrose Dynamics all but owns the city these days. Even if you do not work for them, there is a good chance you or the company you work for has done work for them at some point.
- There was a failed settlement by the colonizers before Nova. Unfortunately, they all died before a second attempt was made and thus the name of the city.
- Mega House has the best damn sandwich in America; The Engine, a pork and cheese torpedo roll.
- The Renown is the most expensive and prestigious place to eat with many celebrities and powerful people going there.
- Local news is provided by The Nova Secundus Tribune but it has come under increasing attacks and accusations of "fake news".
- There is a not insignificant military presence in the Hephaestus Docks as the city provides docks for military ships.
Under Darkness
These are some key things that those of a supernatural or seedy underbelly association know about:- Vampires in the city have to follow the laws of the domain set in place by True Cross an Invictus-Lancea coterie and greater organization.
- Whilst some werewolf packs do exist in the city, they mostly stick to their territories and the last protectorate died off long ago.
Contamination
The Investors
Not everything is as simple as good vs evil, sworn vs false etc. The Investors are a special interest group, or thing, no one really knows. Whatever they or it is the Investors are able to reach out to the minds of player characters, granting prescient warnings or possibly power to fight what comes. But the real question to ask is not who they are, but what do the Investors want?The Sworn
Dedicated to identifying, understanding, containing and ultimately fighting the Contagion. Leadership of The Sworn here in Nova Secundus falls to a group of five.
